Central to Dyson’s operating model is the ability to effectively balance resource demand, planning, prioritisation and allocation of resources across many competing projects.

There are approaching 6000 employees in the Research, Design, Development, Operations and Quality organisation. The robust allocation of Dyson people is critical to enable effective delivery.

This role resides centrally within the Dyson Delivery and Integration Office.

About the role

  • Lead and develop the Vision for the Resource Management and Planning Capability for Product Development, and gain sponsorship with the leadership team.

  • Lead the development a multi-year plan, building from current-state capabilities and deliver enhanced Resource Management and Planning Capability over-time towards the established vision.

  • ‘Champion’ implementation and lead by example to demonstrate best practice and governance; win ‘hearts and minds’ by demonstrating the benefits of good Resource Management to improve decision making, escalations and manage risk.

Resource Management Capabilities

  • Own the Resource Management and Planning Capability across global product development

  • Establish best practise across all aspects of Resource Management; Demand Planning, Resource Allocation and Scenario Modelling

  • Develop and publish Policy, Guidelines and Process for all functions and Resource Owners whom contribute towards product development. In doing so establish improved ways of working across the global matrix of projects and functions

  • Create training material and implement training across product development to ensure adoption and use systems and best practise

  • Hold Functional leaders and Resource Owners to  account to own their resource data and adhere to the established policies and guidelines

  • Conduct business analysis activities to elicit requirements for improved systems, tools and ways of working 

  • Lead the development of business case(s) required to replace legacy Resource Management tools and systems, and invest in new robust, future-proof solutions.

  • Lead a programme of work to deliver next generation Resource Management systems and tools, and planning of the best methods for migration from old to new systems

About you

  • Broad understanding of Product Development (desirable)

  • Experience of Programme Management

  • Experience of Resource Management tools and systems

  • Experience of policy and process design and implementation

  • Experience of working with multiple senior stakeholders

  • Managing expectations and working with diverse groups of stakeholders

  • Cross-functional experience and working across a global organisation is desired
