Head of Store Implementation

Our ambition is to continue to grow our own retail presence, delivering a unique experience for our Owners in our Demo Stores, Mall Demo Zone and Concessions and this can only be managed establishing an efficient retail operating framework, taking into account local requirements and Dyson global standards. 

About the role

The EMEA Direct Retail team is responsible for the delivery of the pipeline of Dyson Demos Stores, taking the process from site identification to handover into market and operations teams and enabling Mall Demo Zone and Concessions coordination. With the increased focus on direct retail and significant growth in the number of direct stores imminent, we are looking for a seasoned programme manager and team leader to embed new ways of working and lead the team to deliver the direct retail pipeline.

Reporting to the Demo Retail Director, the Head of Store Implementation sits within our regional structure and has accountability to group development director.

Direct Retail implementation strategy

  • Partner with markets to define and drive the expansion strategy

  • Oversee all new store plans in the region from site identification to handover of the completed store into market/operations

  • Define and execute commercial initiatives and business models to increase footprint, Direct Retail awareness, and profit growth in the region

  • Provide guidelines based on group and regional requirements and deliver clear framework to help the market developments and sign off process

  • Work collaboratively with global development director to lead broker and landlord negotiations securing best deals and business cases

  • Be the voice of EMEA, identifying commonalities across the region and sharing insights to group teams in order to ensure we are continually improving and delivering against the regional priorities.

Excellence in Execution

  • Optimise performance and consistency of programme delivery

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver Retail briefs to life, oversee the execution of new stores, refurbishment and new product launches to keep our standards across EMEA at the same high level and guarantee a seamless customer experience.

  • Define and ensure best practices for store execution and ensure project timing quality and cost targets.

  • Capture best practice and innovation to ensure that store implementation continuously improves and can accommodate the business growth and strategic initiatives

  • Share knowledge and experience of programme management across the Dyson programme management communities to introduce shared ways of working and optimise programme management across the business

Implementation efficiency

  • Identify optimization areas and drive building related costs down while maximizing vendor output through structured contract and supplier relationship management without sacrificing quality

  • Upskill external suppliers to adopt Dyson culture and ways of working

  • Ensure that stores are built within approved budget

  • Escalate strategic or significant decisions / requests

  • Track global spend against CAPEX budget and act as main point of contact for Group Finance in relation to financial reporting

  • Identify and troubleshoot programme level issues by exception and work with stakeholders to identify, understand and implement robust resolutions that work for the business

People and collaboration

  • Manage planning and ensure the right people are doing the right things at the right time for the regional programmes to be delivered

  • Developing People involving them in regional projects and leading the identified trainings to increase their skillset and potential for evolution

  • Establish strong and open dialogue with the Regional COE - ensure input from the regional demo store & MDZ requirements are filtered back to Group Commercial and regional COE.

  • Creating, defining and optimizing the perfect cooperation between the markets and Dyson Group and form the Retail EMEA hub.

About you

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in similar project management position in premium retail environment

  • Proven track record in project delivery from conceptualization to implementation with the ability to run multiple projects concurrently  

  • Strong commercial and financial acumen

  • Strong communicator and outstanding stakeholder engagement style, capable of senior stakeholder management and influence

  • Have an in-depth knowledge of the state of premium retail, as well as highest standards of client experience, to support business decisions and develop a strong Retail culture within the region. 

  • Knowledge and experience of best practice contract and supplier relationship management approaches, methodologies and procurement processes

  • Demonstrable experience of leading a team and embedding change to culture and ways of working

  • High reporting capability focusing on cost, risk, progress.

  • Able to take a strategic view as well as to understand and translate the detail in business language

  • Natural problem solver and decision maker, using experience to identify innovative solutions

  • Effectively cope with change, shift gears comfortably; can decide and act without having the total picture

  • Exceptional team player with credibility and integrity

  • Fluent in English - another language is a plus
