About the role:

The Americas Communications team is searching for a Communications Manager to drive Dyson’s internal strategy for the US and the Americas. In this role, the Internal Communications Manager will take the lead on engagement activities for Dyson people across the Americas, executing all activities in the US and working closely with the Canada and Mexico Communications Leads to execute in their markets. In partnership with the US Communications Lead, they will construct plans for cascading company updates and decisions through the organization at a regional level, ensuring that global messages are cascaded in the region and that local and regional updates are shared globally. In addition, they two will work together supporting the Americas Regional President and Americas leadership team by crafting unified narratives that enhance Dyson’s regional voice through livestreams, newsletter updates, leadership emails and more.

The ideal candidate for this role will be a self-starter who is passionate about engaging internal audiences to drive awareness, excitement, and a true understanding of Dyson’s values. They will work collaboratively with regional internal leads around the globe to drive creative, new strategies.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES AND SUPPORTING ACTIVITIES:

Leadership Communications

  • Ensure the effective flow of company updates and decisions from the Americas LT.
  • Attend bi-weekly meetings with the US Communications lead, Regional President and HR director to present a regional IC update and strategy.
  • Organize quarterly Americas Town Halls, creating scripts, gathering content, producing the event, and carrying out preparation sessions and rehearsals.
  • Coordinate the right flow of information. Ensure global messages are cascaded in the region and that local and regional updates are also shared globally.
  • Coordinate, edit, approve, and send the Americas monthly newsletter via Poppulo.
  • Partner with HR on careers focused comms via newsletters or quarterly regional recognition communications. 
  • Transition all Americas-wide communications to Poppulo to ensure consistent oversight and layout utilizing the analytics and insights to continually improve engagement and content.

Team Communications –

  • Meet bi-weekly with Group Internal Comms and other regional IC leads to understand the global direction, provide insights from Americas, and act as a conduit to get markets clear and timely information.
  • Increase focus and upskill all market comms teams, to ensure internal comms becomes engrained within the team.  
  • Host workshops and training sessions on IC channels and strategy at Americas Comms Summits or remotely at key points in the year.
  • Hold 1:1s quarterly with each Americas IC market lead to review strategy, support on budget creation and audit activity in their market. Strive to create an Americas view on activity across internal comms, activity calendar & budget management.

Engagement Communications –

  • Create and deliver regional internal launch strategies, partnering with Group and with input from markets, including Americas-wide competitions, events, engineer talks, activities with CPM, etc. Hold markets to account for local internal launches and encourage sharing of best practice and assets.
  • Localize, edit, get approval from different stakeholders for all topical newsletters Poppulo. Frequency would be monthly to bi-monthly.
  • Adapt Group Internal/Group Product campaigns to be relevant and successful in Americas markets, e.g. Pets of Dyson competition, Odours campaign, Challenge Dyson, etc.
  • Produce Americas assets including engagement videos, wrap-up videos, regional campaign assets, regional update talking points and slides.
  • Suggest and implement new channels, systems or media that can keep remote and in-office engagement safe but relevant. Spotlight best practice in markets and collate and share ideas.

Transformation Communications –

  • Be a partner to the regional Transformation team, ensure understanding of all projects and how to manage the communication to different stakeholders and wider regional team.
  • Build internal communications plans around all major regional transformation projects.

About You

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an Internal communications role.
  • Experience working across multiple markets.
  • Strategic thinking: demonstrates ability to take a broad overview of issues and to identify most salient points.  Takes an inventive approach.
  • Change management: Ability to build and effect change - at both a people and process level.
  • Project management: Evidence of experience in managing a comprehensive communications program to advance an organization’s mission and goals.
  • Influence: Ability to influence and engage people up, down, and across the organization in order to bring about change.
  • Collaborative: Able to build and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of people both within the US Communications team and other teams across the US and Global business. Works co-operatively with others as part of a team, as opposed to working separately or competitively. Demonstrated skill and comfort in building relationships with senior leadership and in-market teams.
  • Written and oral communication: Is able to present complex information and arguments in a coherent and accessible format to senior management.  Is able to use a variety of oral and written communication presentation techniques to ensure recommendations are considered.
  • Creativity: Demonstrates imagination, creativity and divergent thinking and encourages it in others.  Shows openness to alternative approaches and promotes considered risk taking. Balanced by good judgment in solving problems.

  • Project management skills: At times this role will involve direct project management, at other times, managing the project manager. This person must be able to manage budgets and deadlines – and plan, achieve and evaluate results.
