Responsibilities of the Role 


As IT Operations Lead, you will be accountable for providing end to end IT  applications services across The Dyson Institute, supporting academic and operational need.  You will develop strong relationships with the supporting IT, Information Management and Privacy functions within the wider Dyson business to ensure The Dyson Institute follows best practice at all times and ensuring that ITIL best practices are aligned. 


Working with Senior stakeholders, you will develop and deliver short, medium and long term plans for improving the effectiveness and efficiency of end to end service management across all Academic and operational IT Services that will generate a significant, positive impact through improved stability, capacity management, quality and cost effectiveness. 



  • Drive continual improvement into The Dyson Institute IT service 

  • Ensure ITIL aligned governance and standards are followed 

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with the wider Dyson business and external vendors. Ensuring regular communication of service requirements, service improvements, risks, service changes, service outages and service issues. 

  • Ensure that for any existing, new or amended IT services being introduced that a service design is created and approved and that the service is transitioned effectively and smoothly into IT operations. 

  • Act as a senior reviewer and approval of all IT Changes 

  • Provide on call support for weekends and national holidays in order to provide 24/7/365 Academic support for major incidents/escalations 

  • Own and manage regular service reviews with your business stakeholders and IT suppliers in markets. Produce regular reporting on all IT Academic and operational applications. 

  • Stay abreast of trends in Service Management and Digital Workplace Services including management, technologies, sourcing, policies, procedures and other external changes that could have an impact on IT services for your market or function. 


Person Specification 

  • Minimum 8 year’s experience in IT service delivery roles 

  • Previous experience (min 2 years) working in an IT Service Operations/Management role, preferably in a similar sector. 

  • Strong IT third party management skills for different sizes and complexities of application and vendor. 

  • Previous experience working with Vendors and Contract Management 

  • Driven to solve problems and with a continuous improvement mindset. 

  • A natural communicator, understanding how to share insights with a range of stakeholders and using your logical and creative thinking skills to develop compelling narratives that support Senior Leaders to make effective business decisions.
