About The Role

To provide a single point of contact for IT Quality Assurance (Release and Environment Management) activities, supporting our delivery teams across a wide portfolio of projects. We are currently managing c.60-70 live projects in QA, across the great range of activities which Dyson IT supports.

Dyson is tech-agnostic, so we're not looking for experience in specific platforms or applications. We're looking for someone with signifcant experience in Release and Environment activities, who'll be able to provide strategic oversight, governance and structure, and who can communicate effectively with teams of experts, and with our Senior Leadership Teams.

You'll make extensive use of Plutora (although previous experience using this tool isn't essential)

You may have experience in (for example) JIRA, HP Quality Centre, Microfocus, HP ALM or similar.

Responsibilities include:

  • Review portfolio plans to understand high level release and environment demand for medium (3-6mths) and long term (6mth+) planning

  • Review project scope to understand what applications and environments are impacted (including up and downstream dependencies)

  • Define release approach to best suit project delivery approach

  • Work with project managers to highlight any new environment requirements

  • Maintain backlog of continual improvement (CI) activities

  • Create and manage plans for delivery of new environment requirements, identify potential conflict with release and environments, work with project teams to resolve.

  • Ensure release and environment schedule accurately reflects demand and is aligned with resource management

  • Act as a point of escalation for project teams

  • Review planned changes to underlying infrastructure and identify any releases or environment impacted

  • Maintain accurate lists of release content based on project updates and details in Jira

  • Review all defects closed with RCA of environment and add items to CI backlog where appropriate.

About you

Essential:

  • Previous experience successfully managing Release and Environment activites in a complex, fast moving corporate environment (likely to be 5 years+)

  • Knowledge of ITIL, and its application to Release and Environment management

  • Able to balance the need for rigour, governance and standard processes against the demand for flexibility and pragatism, and communicate that successfully to stakeholders

  • Highly developed analytic skills: able to quickly understand the key issues relating to a broad range of technology and project specialisms, without necessarily having deep technical expertise.

Desirable:

  • Experience in (for example) JIRA, HP Quality Centre, Microfocus, HP ALM or similar.
