About the role

We are currently seeking a Data & Analytics Lead, within New Product Innovation (NPI), responsible for global reporting and analysis of projects during product development, with a focus on our growing Upstream Portfolio. The role is within the NPI team but works across both Research and NPI to drive alignment and focus.

This is what we need you to do 

The Data & Analytics Lead is responsible primarily for ensuring that the reporting needs of the upstream business stakeholders are met. They will need to work collaboratively to understand each business goal, be responsible for developing and deploying reporting solutions, and where possible make recommendations for further improvement.  The role requires a high level of pro-active analysis and optimisation activity from a candidate who displays excellent technical & business focused skills. 

  • Lead significant data projects to enable data driven decision making  

  • Develop, support and maintain exec level reporting 

  • Create insightful reports from the various systems using BI tools  

  • Contribute to the strategy to improve global reporting methods in RDD  

  • Work with senior stakeholders, business leaders and internal suppliers 

  • Identifying change needs - Assessing the impact of the change, and documenting requirements 

  • Collaborate with I.T. and other analytical teams to share ideas and improve ways of working 

  • Perform Ad-hoc analysis as required in a timely manner 

  • Own/contribute to team/department level initiatives & change projects 

About You

Essential 

  • Extensive experience of leading technical or data driven projects in a large technology or engineering company 

  • Degree level education  

  • Experience working with skilled analysts 

  • An understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into technical requirements 

  • Excellent communication skills & creative problem-solving approach  

  • Experience within analytical roles  

  • Relevant analytical software and system experience, including strong knowledge of Python (specifically the Flask and Pandas modules) 

Desirable 

  • Experience of using visualisation software (e.g. Tableau or Qlik) 

  • Experience in application development 

  • Broad understanding of web tools & languages 

  • Understanding of ETL - on premise or cloud based 

  • Knowledge of engineering
