The Floorcare Electronics System Integration team, based in Malmesbury, England, is responsible for developing and integrating cutting-edge electronic hardware for new and pioneering Dyson Floorcare products. We solve the problems others choose to ignore, developing disruptive technologies that require increasingly complex electronics solutions to deliver Dyson’s rapidly expanding global product portfolio.
About the role
The role will require a highly motivated, creative, methodical and flexible person, ready to take on challenges with a pragmatic approach. You will lead a team/s of Electronics Engineers, working with multi-disciplinary global project teams to architect, develop and deliver integrated electronic solutions for new and pioneering consumer appliance products within Dyson’s Floorcare category. You will gain invaluable experience working with Dyson’s Research and New Product Innovation teams to investigate and develop novel electronics to support and realise new Dyson product ideas. You may also manage other Engineers and will provide supervision and mentoring to less experienced Engineers in the team.
Responsibilities include:
Lead and support a team of Electronics Engineers to architect, develop and deliver integrated electronic solutions to project timelines.
Design and develop complex analogue and digital electronic circuits.
Proactively lead design reviews, technical risk analyses, troubleshooting and investigations to solve complex engineering problems.
Champion established Dyson methodology and good engineering practices within the team to deliver robust and high-quality design solutions.
Produce detailed engineering materials including design schematics, PCB layouts, tolerance analyses, design notes, FMEA, failure analysis reports and technical review documents.
Liaise and collaborate with various Dyson engineering teams (Mechanical, Compliance, Reliability, Software, Manufacturing, Test, etc) across the UK and South East Asia to ensure product and system requirements are satisfied, and drive product development through to production.
Contribute towards electronics development process improvement activities.
Supervise, coach and mentor Engineers in the team.
About You
As a Lead Electronics Engineer, you will have at least a bachelor-level degree in a discipline which contains a significant focus on Electronics Engineering. You will be capable of leading a team to deliver high quality electronic solutions on time. You must have experience in designing sustainable and high-quality electronic solutions, ideally for consumer products in mass production and through the whole product development lifecycle. You should also have some lead and/or mentoring experience.
Degree qualified in a relevant electronics discipline.
At least 5 years of experience developing and delivering electronic solutions through whole product development cycles.
Working knowledge of schematic capture and PCB layout software such as Mentor Graphics.
Experience using simulation tools to support design calculations, tolerance analyses and documentation.
Experience with standard electronics laboratory and test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, AC/DC power sources, power meters, etc.
Experience in Design QA, DFM, DFX and DFMEA.
Knowledge of home appliance safety requirements and regulatory certification at PCBA and product levels, including EMC/ESD.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to lead a team to deliver high quality results within challenging project timelines.
Highly motivated and self-driven with good communication skills, and experience in a technology leadership role.
