Lead Electronics Sensors Engineer

About the role 

This engineering role is part of the Sensors, Actuators & Displays Group in the Global Hardware Electronics organisation. You will be working with engineers from many disciplines on multiple R&D projects to deliver Dyson’s vision for future products.

You will be working both independently and within teams as required, planning your tasks & capturing requirements for sub-systems. You will then develop & test systems to ensure they meet the requirements.

The role responsibilities include:

  • The design, construction & test of cost-effective sensing and actuation technologies

  • Supporting the Electronics Group and helping to build our solutions into the product range 

  • Taking designs from concept, through development to mass production.

  • Development of requirements and specifications in conjunction with the category teams

About you 

  • A degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Electronics Engineering, Physics)

  • Extensive experience working on the design, implementation & testing of electronic systems

  • Good knowledge of analogue and digital electronics

  • Proficiency in at least one of the major schematic capture and layout packages

  • Modelling and simulation skills with MATLAB or similar tools

  • Experience with the physical characterisation of sensors

  • Knowledge of physical issues and a passion to apply this to smart technology

  • Experience with signal conditioning and digital signal processing techniques

  • Experience in the use of electronics lab equipment.

  • A good understanding and appreciation of quality processes

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an ability to communicate complex issues to piers & management

  • Some experience of image acquisition & processing is preferred

  • Some experience of programming languages such as Python or C is preferred
