About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Lead Electronics Systems Engineer to join our growing Floorcare Robotics team.

  • Work at the core of our product development process and use established systems engineering tools and methods to bring clarity from ambiguity on complex projects.

  • Translate our product vision into clear and concise system and functional requirements.

  • Lead the electronics system architectural design and impact analysis of new and changing requirements.

  • Produce detailed engineering materials including electronics system architectural design proposals, systems tolerance analysis, FMEA, failure analysis report and technical review documents.

  • Work seamlessly with various Dyson engineering teams (Software, Power System, Mechanical, Compliance, Manufacturing, Test, etc.) across the UK and Southeast Asia to ensure product and system requirements are fully satisfied, and drive product development through to production.

  • Active participation in design reviews and provide technical solution and mitigation plan.

  • Take a proactive approach in solving complex problems – present ideas and concepts.

  • Identify and warn of technical risks throughout the product life cycle. Investigate these risks through to resolution with testing and analysis as required

  • Develop test methodology and support electronics system verification and product validation test.

  • Ensure that engineering systems are developed to offer platforming opportunities for future products.

  • Lead and coach a small team to deliver products in the category to meet or exceed the technical spec, time, cost, reliability, and requirements.

  • Helping us pivot our focus from products to product platforms to maximise reuse of engineering effort.

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree in (Electrical/Electronics/Mechatronics) or equivalent electronics discipline.

  • At least minimum 7 years’ experience in a product development environment, preferably personnel specializing in Electronics Systems Engineering applications.

  • Detailed design knowledge and experience in major aspect of Electronics: Power Electronics, Motor Control, High Speed Electronics, Battery Management, Analogue, Digital and Sensing technology with its Interfacing (magnetic, optics, etc), Embedded microcontroller-based platforms and Product & Electronics manufacturing processes.

  • Good knowledge of MCU/MPU architecture and its common peripherals.

  • Good knowledge of systems integration and the interactions between Hardware and Software design.

  • Experience using simulation tools to support design calculations, tolerance analysis, and documentation.

  • Proven experience in working collaboratively across multiple product developments and cross-disciplinary engineering teams.

  • Demonstrable experience in performing systems breakdown, architecture definition and using functional analysis techniques resulting in well written unambiguous requirements.

  • Experience is Design QA, DFM, DFX, DFMEA, and EMC troubleshooting is essential.

  • Working knowledge of multiple software platforms: e.g., Embedded Linux, Android, RTOS, is desirable.

  • Knowledge in Home Appliance Safety Requirement / Standard and wiring design is desirable.

  • Knowledge of the Atlassian suite (JIRA, Confluence, bitbucket) is desirable.

  • Experience with Requirements Management Tools and Product Lifecycle Management tools is desirable.

  • Capable of working in an agile and autonomous manner.

  • Demonstrate good people management skills.

  • Provide technical direction and make decision and strong analytical skills across multiple projects.

  • Capable to deliver high quality results within tight time deadlines.

  • Possess a strong command of written and spoken English. Highly motivated person with good communication and presentation skills and able to work within a team.

  • A confident technical leader, able to operate with influence and drive transformation and growth.
