Lead Mechanical & Test Engineer - Robotics Research

About the role

As a mechanical & test engineer, you will join our ambitious and growing team, to deliver challenging products in consumer robotics. The team joins mechanical, electrical, electromagnetics, control, software, and manufacturing engineering disciplines in a highly collaborative mindset.


  • Design mechatronics sub-systems and optimize them

  • Validate the design through appropriate calculations or simulation models

  • Assemble prototypes and evaluate them against the initial requirements

  • Design test benches, perform characterisation and validation testing

  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of subject matter experts to create a cohesive and balanced product

About You

Required skills

  • 5+ years Mechanical design experience, preferably in robotics

  • MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or comparable degree

  • Experience in transmission technology for robotics application

  • Test plans and test equipment development to assess functionality and verify reliability of designs at all stages of development

  • Troubleshoot issues identification, root causes determination, corrective actions design and implementation

  • Proficiency in designing parts and complex assemblies using 3D modelling software (NX preferred)

  • Experience drafting engineering drawings and conducting tolerance stack- up analysis

  • Solid bases in theoretical mechanics and mechanical design

  • Practical design expertise and skills with tolerance/sensitivity analysis

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in NVH (structural, vibrational, thermal testing) and data analysis of electro-mechanical actuators

  • Experience using test instrumentation and control components (torque sensors, encoders, load cells...)

  • Hands-on expertise in electro-mechanical actuators, sensors, or mobile robotic platforms

  • Some understanding and familiarity of control engineering (low level controller)

  • LabVIEW or equivalent data acquisition tools

  • Knowledge in systems engineering (using Model-Based Systems Engineering)
