This is a key role within the Global Product Cost (GPC) organization. GPC is responsible for product cost across the entire Dyson product range. The scope spans products in R&D phase (New Product Development) to products in production till end of life. The Lead Product Cost Analyst is responsible for NPD projects from inception till its launch into the marketplace. The role involves working globally (UK, SG & Malaysia) with a cross functional team. The individual is responsible for the reporting and analysis to support projects deliver to target cost. The product cost along with time and specification is a key focus area for product development and investment appraisal within Dyson.
About the Role
Responsible for providing timely, accurate and insightful analysis on product cost to support milestone, financial health checks, change management and risk and opportunity tracking.
Manage the monthly reporting cycle to support the product cost change and governance process that delivers product to target cost.
Manage and track product cost risk and opportunities. Responsible for getting timely up dates on progress.
Provide reporting and analysis that shows product cost versus target cost and other benchmarks.
Support product cost E2E through the product lifecycle driving efficiencies and cost down, delivering products to target cost.
Support build ground up cost estimates for new projects currently being developed within Research Design and Development (RDD).
Support reviews with Engineering to calculate future product costs and understand the associated risks and opportunities which could impact a product as it progresses through the development cycle.
Work closely with (challenge) Engineering, Operations, Procurement and Finance to agree achievable, but stretching Target costs.Work with Engineering and Procurement to develop new cost calculation tools.
An engineering / manufacturing/ cost accounting degree with previous experience and more than 5 years in a product cost engineering role.
Working experience in Consumer Products Industry and/or Technology business.
Able to manage product design complexity and influence business partners.
Ability to challenge preconceptions and entrenched beliefs.
Strong communication skills.
