Lead Product Performance Engineer

Science and Research
Malaysia - Global Development Campus, Johor Bahru

About us

At Dyson we’re obsessed with continuously making things better, pushing the boundaries of what others have defined as impossible. We do this by making products that solve real world problems using both novel technologies and established technologies, in new and innovative ways. Integrating these technologies into a product and ensuring that we are delivering market leading performance to our customers is a challenging job, and one that takes specialist skills. That’s where the Technology Development team comes in.

About you

We are looking for a talented Lead Product Performance Engineer to join our Technology Development team, to support the development of our new floorcare products. Working as part of a small team you will be responsible for the product performance analysis. You will be working alongside the design and functional teams to create new ways to measure and predict key performance parameters; and ensure that our technologies are up to meeting their ambitious targets. You will use a mixture of simulation, test and engineering judgement to solve the problems that arise as we develop our technologies and products. You will work alongside your UK counterparts to pick projects up from an early design stage and take them through to production.

  • Deliver top level product performance metrics on a full product complexity project with multiple attachments, resolving complex problems without precedents either through established approach or defining one. Assess multiple viewpoints independently and determine technical direction for project or specialist areas.

  • Plan and prioritise tasks to drive a coherent requirement definition to ensure consistent development of performance throughout the product development.

  • Use experimental validation and other relevant analysis methods and tools to validate our understanding and solutions.

  • Drive analysis of data, ensure robust test methodology and conclusive proposals for timely delivery of solutions and verification reports.

  • Inform all stakeholders advised on progress and status of allocated projects.

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with design engineers and broader cross teams on all levels.

About you

  • University Degree or Master in Mechanical Engineering (other relevant discipline will be considered)

  • Broad knowledge of applied physics, design engineering, particle science, fluid dynamics and numerical analysis.

  • Competent in the use and application of CAD/CAE tools in general. Experience in the UG and ANSYS suite of products is preferred for ideal collaboration with teams.

  • Experience in system engineering processes and able to demonstrate system breakdown analysis

  • Able to write unambiguous product requirements and test methods

  • In-depth knowledge of using Matlab, Simscape & Simulink

  • Exhibit good problem-solving skills using simulation and validation test methods

  • Well versed with FMEA and Root Cause Analysis tools

  • A clear, logical thinker with attention to detail and an appreciation for engineering fundamentals and critical analysis

  • Demonstrate strong written & verbal communication skills. Able to clearly, concisely & confidently present & articulate ideas to larger cross-category groups from a variety of areas, often with Management attendees. Proficient in clear, concise communication of ideas & concepts, frequently tailoring communication to suit different levels.
