About the Role

We are looking for an exceptional Project Manager to come and join an expanding programme management team focusing on a new category of products within Dyson. This exciting position will be working within a fast paced and exciting field with a dedicated inspiring workspace in a converted aircraft Hangar at Hullavington; focussed on supporting the development of products depending on advanced intelligence technologies.

The successful individual will be responsible for the project management & delivery of the first product within this exciting new category, with opportunities to expand and support the global team on taking it through to production in the SEA. This role will be critical in the delivery of the first products to Launch.

The Programme Management team and this role have a high level of visibility, benefiting from a close relationship with the Senior Leadership team, which enables them to deliver, alongside the hugely talented team of engineers and scientists. The role of Lead Project Manager interfaces with many stakeholders and functions across the business, spanning many functions from NPI and Research into Commercial, Operations, Quality and Finance.


As a Lead Project Manager at Dyson, you will ensure deliverables are met in a timely manner and gain a sufficient level of understanding of the development to be able to communicate the projects status to senior management, whilst being comfortable in challenging the paradigm when required.

You will work across all disciplines of design, research, procurement, manufacturing, commercial and marketing to ensure an integrated project delivery strategy aligns to the wider business strategy. Our briefs can often be loose and changeable, so you must be comfortable in a fast moving, ambiguous environment. Skills in managing a dynamic environment will be critical to the role.

The successful individual will:

  • Be accountable for project management activities within the New Category team to enable delivery of all projects on cost/spec and time in order to meet the Category growth ambitions.

  • Take leadership and provide direction to cross functional teams to ensure communication and collaboration; resolve conflicts and lead solutions in a highly complex environment.

  • Undertake management and integration of multiple cross functional teams to deliver projects to required project milestones.

  • Coordinate and communicate project status between teams within the organisations to ensure effective and timely input; resolve conflicts and lead solutions.

  • Challenge concepts in order to achieve the optimum design within the boundaries of time, specification and cost, maintain and manage the risks, actions and issues trackers.

  • Manage resource allocation activities against current time plans

  • Take an active, hands-on role to understand how complex technical problems are resolved thoroughly and help support that resolution

  • Manage multiple stakeholder’s expectations from early stage design and development through to launch.

About You


  • Hold, or demonstrate an understanding of, formal project management qualifications (such as APMP).

  • Experience in the delivery of technology products is beneficial, and the candidate should be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of product development processes and frameworks.

  • Candidate should possess a degree in Engineering, Project Management or can demonstrate equivalent experience. If not from a technical background, the candidate should be able to demonstrate experience of working in highly technical environments.

  • A proven track record in managing large/complex projects.


  • Outstanding project management capabilities (i.e. leadership, senior stakeholder management and communication, risk management, issue resolution, budget tracking, benefits analysis, estimating and planning etc.).

  • Strong communicator; ability to listen and convey complex issues concisely and accurately.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to build productive working relationships and influence others.

  • Excellent analytical skills; the ability to assess problems thoroughly and drive logical conclusions

  • Appreciation and understanding of the critical business functions contribution NPD including Commercial, Finance and Operations functions.

  • Confident; comfortable interacting with senior executives without diluting unpleasant news or well-reasoned analysis.

  • Assertive; readiness to challenge teams to take remedial action when required.

  • Credible; ability to demonstrate understanding of engineering processes in order to work with design teams throughout the project development cycle.

  • Shrewd: The ability to multi-task and plan effectively when working with a variety of project teams in a fast-paced and often high-pressure, competitive environment.
