Lead Technician

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

Conduct Testing:

• Conduct standard tests according to Dyson Test Method (TMs) without supervision and non-standard tests with varying levels of supervision & proactively share the test results.
• Produce accurate results and deliver them in a timely manner in a clear presentation.

Lab Management:

• Correctly utilize and maintain and develop testing equipment, including alternatives in the absence of specific equipment.
• Identify equipment malfunctions, troubleshoot common and less common issues, and plan preventive maintenance.
• Contribute to lab ownership activities, including 5S, media visits, and process/capability improvements. Manage and mentor junior technicians in effectively running the laboratory.
• Prioritize health and safety in the lab, maintaining zero incidents and contribute to health and safety committees, risk assessments, and audit actions.

Process Improvement:

• Propose, initiate and execute improvements to lab processes.
• Plan and execute major changes in the lab, including equipment transfers and lab relocations, with minimal supervision.

Budget Management:

• Assist in budget allocation for capital expenditure (CapEx) and operational expenditure (OpEx), ensuring adherence to established financial guidelines.
• Provide support in tracking and documenting expenses related to CapEx and OpEx, assisting in the maintenance of accurate financial records.
• Collaborate with senior team members to gather data and contribute to financial reviews and assessments, helping to identify cost-saving opportunities and support budgeting decisions.

Experience Required:

• A diploma from a reputable Polytechnic equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering.
• Past working experience in test and laboratory environment will be preferred.
• Experience in CAD software (eg. NX) will be necessary for helping create rigs.
• Experience in programming languages in projects will be preferred (eg. Labview, Excel VBA).
• Experience in Statistical Analysis and also data analysis (Inference, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), and GR&R) will be an added advantage.
