Description

Dyson is changings it’s approach to learning and the Learning Designer is key to shaping the online content creation approach and framework. You will have already earned your stripes as a learning designer in the digital learning world. You relish opportunities to identify and clarify requirements and love shaping creative and engaging learning solutions.
Working across the business as part of the Digital Learning Team, the Learning Designer is responsible for applying instructional design and development principles and processes to produce effective, engaging and innovative digital learning programs. As a subject matter expert, you will advise training teams on the design of online learning contetn within Dyson as well as designing, developing and building content campaigns. 
You will be responsible to keep abreast of various design strategies, with emphasis in creating engaging and effective online learning content and may act as a project manager for smaller projects.   

Accountabilities

  • Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content 
  • Work with subject matter experts to identify target audience’s training needs
  • Act as a consultant to advise the business on instructional design, support training teams in creating digital learning utilising authoring tools 
  • Set instructional end goals and create content that matches them
  • Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface and the finished product
  • Analyse and apply trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design 
  • Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process
  • Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc)
  • Work closely with Dyson’s internal brand team on content creation
  • Devise modes of assessment, such as tests or quizzes, to measure the effectiveness of the course
  • Design Challenge existing content development practices and publish online learning design principles to educate the business
  • Experience in conducting learning and needs analysis
  • Maintain project documentation and course folders

Skills

  • Previous experience in Instructional Design
  • In-depth knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models
  • Lesson and curriculum planning skills
  • Basic HTML and Flash programming knowledge
  • Visual design skills (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator) 
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. Intermediate skills with Microsoft Excel and Visio
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio and video scripts
  • Strong project management skills 
  • Technical Aptitude; Ability to comprehend complex topics /specialized information and simplify for learners
  • Builds effective business relationships
  • Able to effectively coach and advise others. 
  • Highly motivated, eager to make a difference in the learning process
