About the role

We are looking for an experienced Master Data Manager for our Digital Supply Chain Transformation Programme focused on Omnichannel capabilities. We are deploying a new Distributed Order Management System (DOMS) and delivery management platforms that will be integrated into our landscape of ERP system, customer front end and 3PL carriers.

This is a newly created role that aims at driving a shared version of the truth through data and supporting organization wide information governance to create and enforce information management policies. A solid understating of stewardship - interpreting exceptions to policies and resolving them – and a sharp vision is important. 

You will work closely with senior level stakeholders. You must be able to excite people for your vision and cross-functional leadership skills are key as is understanding how data is used within business processes and its impact on desired business process outcomes. You will need to prove awareness of the security, privacy, ethics, and quality requirements for critical data entities. 

Key Responsibilities

  • At the programme/project level:
    • Help define business requirements for certain key data elements.
    • Identify and map critical data objects
    • Explain to IT/architects what level of data quality or access is needed to meet business goals.
    • Advise business leaders on the best workflows and business process design for introducing new data sets to the corporate business systems
    • Review proposed data models, standards, and templates
    • Help cleanse specific datasets in preparation for loading into business systems
    • Consistently help to develop and keep our vision for a digital supply chain data catalog together with other leaders and cross-functional partners
    • Develop the master data landscape to support our vision and ensure that our program managers and product owners stay on track to deliver accordingly
    • Drive a consistent master data strategy and execution that supports the improvement of our data quality
    • Be an evangelist for the business process architecture that you propose, and you become a leading advocate for digital literacy in Dyson’s supply chain
  • At the strategic and ongoing level:
    • Monitoring and responding to specific data elements that look wrong/prevent a business transaction from taking place
    • Support problem resolution when order processing is inhibited due to data issues
    • Monitoring and responding to business peers who are querying why their various reports do not align
    • Support the definition of the overall master data strategy for the Supply Chain
  • As the link between the Dyson Master Data Manager and business stakeholders/end-users, you will:
    • Monitor the state of supply chain master data
    • Collaborate with other Master Data Managers and business stakeholders to receive and understand policy directives
    • Assist line managers/operating staff in interpreting policy requirements
    • Mentor key contacts in business lines in the range of master data management activities
    • Assist in combined reporting into the data governance council, individually and as a team (for example, with key contacts in business lines) when the need for master data management spans data domains and business functions
    • Take part in master data governance board meetings
    • Manage data migration as required

About You

  • Bachelor’s in supply chain master data management, business, IT or a related field
  • Master’s degree is desirable
  • 5-7 years’ work experience in global manufacturing or retail businesses
  • Cross-functional leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Proven record of accomplishment in large scale digital master data management
