This role sits within the GB Media team, and will report to the Head of Media. 

The Media Team is responsible for bringing our engineering, technology and products to life through our communication strategy; increasing brand awareness, brand advocacy and driving conversion. The Media Manager with work closely with the Head of Media to help shape our full funnel paid media strategy, responsible for developing and executing paid media plans that deliver our category objectives through the funnel. The role will increasingly work across Owned and Earned functions as we continually strive for fully integrated paid, owned and earned media plans. Ultimately, you will attract, engage and delight consumers to drive measurable business impact, ensuring efficient and effective media strategies. 

Main Areas of Focus:  

  • Media planning and buying; you’ll be seen as the paid media expert, working alongside Dyson brand category teams and our media agency to translate marketing briefs into best in class media plans. You will drive fully integrated online and offline media plans, and have planning experience across a breadth of media channels; from Social, programmatic display & OLV, search, TV and VOD.   

  • Full funnel thinking; This role will be required to deliver a full funnel media strategy, driving performance and success against KPIs from awareness to conversion. You’ll collaborate with the Performance Media and Owner Experience (OE) specialist teams to connect upper funnel activity with conversion and retention/loyalty activities. The media manager will support both acquisition and retention strategies for Dyson in GB.  

  • Owner Centric; You’ll need to think owner first, developing media strategies that understand who the target audience is, delivering the best experience based on their Dyson journey. Working with our insights, OE and creative teams, the plans you build will create the best experience for owners whilst delivering efficiency in execution across acquisition and retention strategies.  

  • Media Agency; You’ll work closely with our media agency in the day to day optimisation and tracking of media execution, providing insights and recommendations to achieve media objectives / goals. We have recently transitioned media agency, and so this is an exciting time for a media manager to establish best in class ways of working and build strong relationships with new agency teams. 

  • Measurement and reporting; Ensure appropriate measurement of effectiveness of media through the funnel, balancing long and short term KPIs. Ensure performance is communicated to the appropriate teams. On-going tracking and campaign spend management to ensure all activity is not only effective, but efficient.   

  • Collaboration; work with multiple functions to integrate media planning through funnel, and across paid owned and earned activities; brand, performance media, owner experience, PR, social, ecomm, creative… 

  • Align digital touchpoints; work with both Direct and 3rd Party Customer Marketing to align digital media plans, and ensure best Dyson experience for owners and shoppers 

About the Job

  • Media Planning & Buying – work with our media agency to define, design & implement the paid media strategy to meet clearly defined commercial objectives.  

  • Execution & Budget Management – work with our media agency team to achieve KPI’s, with documented reasons for the allocation of spend by activity type and time and with clear ROI objectives and measurement for each activity. Manage spend to within budget & maintain clear records. 

  • Full funnel thinking, working with performance media and owner experience leads. 

  • Digital maturity and roadmap; Work with the Media Managers in developing and deploying test and learn agenda that aligns to GB’s Digital Maturity Roadmap.    

  • Ensure campaign integration; digital aligned and connected to offline media. Bringing a connections planning mindset to our media. 

  • Work closely with web team to understand and optimise digital user journeys  

  • Work with Direct and 3rd Party Retail team to provide oversight and alignment of digital activities, data and reporting 

  • Delivering an owner first approach to planning and execution, understanding and articulating the importance of audience targeting and management through funnel 

  • Understanding of online attribution methodologies to inform media planning  

  • Surfaces insights and learnings to share with the business on a monthly and quarterly basis 

  • Builds a good relationship with Google and Facebook and other key business partners to Dyson, to maximise platform capabilities  

  • Trends – Keep abreast of changing media consumption trends and purchasing patterns to ensure the GB business continues to transform its growth in its direct business and is equipped to deal with long term transition from bricks and mortar retailers to omni-channel retailers.  Review new technologies and keep on top of new digital marketing trends and opportunities. Support the step up and launch where appropriate. 

  • This role will involve the management of a Media Exec and/or Graduate in the Media team. 

  • Other - Relish the opportunity to pick up new activities that broadly fall in the purpose of the role, fix things that need fixing, identify problems and find solutions.  

 

About You

Essential Experience:

  • Have minimum 5 years proven integrated communications or media planning experience (offline, search, social, programmatic, brand, agency) 

  • Passionate about online & the opportunities it brings to drive brand awareness 

  • Proven experience leading and collaborating within cross-discipline teams and agency partners 

  • Previous experience of managing sizable media budgets

  • A highly collaborative, team player and an ability to build excellent relationships with both internal & external partners. 

  • Capable of managing multiple, complex projects and delivering to competing deadlines 

  • Demonstrable strategic & analytical capabilities 

  • Good communication skills, both written & verbal

  • Strong working knowledge of media channels, offline & online.
