Our Digital Workplace Services team
The Digital Workplace Services Team in which this role is aligned exist to:
  • Deliver world class Service Desk, End User Computing, Collaboration, Legal, Payroll, Dyson Institute, Estates, Group Security and HR IT Services to Dyson’s global employees (circa 15,500 users)
  • Ensure ITIL aligned governance and standards are followed
  • Drive continual improvement into the Digital Workplace services space in line with Dyson’s growth
  • Deliver a roadmap for all Digital Work place services to drive transformation required to support Dyson’s blueprint
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with the business, ensuring regular communication of service requirements, service improvements, risks, service changes, service outages and service issues.

About the role

The Network Architect, reporting to the EUS Programme Manager and working closely with Lead Network Architects, will be responsible for:
  • Helping to develop network architecture, strategy and roadmap
  • Researching innovation and emerging technologies
  • Running Proof-of-Concept projects, lab trials, vendor/technology evaluation
  • Customer/partner engagements and Design Artefacts for Dyson projects 
  • Being the wider APAC team’s main point of engagement with the Dyson Estates function and office location projects
  • Working closely with fellow Network Architects and Security Architects, other functional area Technical Architects, and wider business users to ensure robust, highly performing, reliable, scalable and secure network solutions are in place throughout all IT systems and platforms. 
  • Leading the development of campus network evolution use cases and long-term network architecture in collaboration with Estates stakeholders, partners and fellow technical architects.
  • Designing and recommending network solutions to align with business, process and application requirements, particularly focusing on Dyson’s expanding footprint in office spaces, R&D labs and manufacturing sites in SEA.
  • Providing advice and consultation to various teams throughout the business on matters relating to network design and operation, including mentoring of network engineers and analysts.
  • Identifying gaps and requirements, ultimately researching, designing and delivering WAN/LAN and other networking-related solutions. Being responsible for production of Design and Project artefacts for IT projects with a networking element. 
  • Delivering business cases for various solution architectures, and high-level design.
  • Carrying out procurement and vendor selection, through to low level implementation and handover to operational teams.

  • Business insight, technical knowledge and the ability to think strategically. 
  • Experience and understanding of newer network technologies such as Spine and Leaf, SDN, NFV, Openstack, OpenFlow and NSX. Specifically Cisco ACI, DNA Center and SDA, Cisco Firepower and FMC, and Viptela SD-WAN skills will be beneficial.
  • Understanding of advanced data centre networking equipment including Nexus 9K/7K/5K/2K, Catalyst series switches and wireless products, Cisco routers, DR integration, next-gen firewalls, VPN etc.
  • Experience with enterprise class network management/monitoring systems is desired (Solarwinds, Nagios, Stealthwatch, CyberVision etc.).
  • Solid understanding of layered network and security protocols 
  • Exceptional documentation skills that can clearly articulate technical designs, issues and constraints, procedures, and network assessments.
  • Strong conceptual thinking and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under minimal supervision and with a high degree of autonomy and responsibility.
  • Team-oriented interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people and roles, including vendors, IT and business personnel.
  • Good understanding of technology and process optimization techniques e.g. standardisation, consolidation, simplification and automation and an appetite for continuous improvement.
  • Strong industry knowledge informing procurement and related vendor engagements.
  • Comfortable working outside of core working hours when necessary to complete tasks.
  • Able to travel to world-wide sites across the enterprise including Greater China.

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, network design or other related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • Professional network vendor certifications such as Cisco CCNP R&S, CCDP, Juniper JNCIS-ENT, etc. (CCIE or equivalent is a plus).
  • Experience with ITIL and Prince 2, and knowledge of formal architecture methodologies/frameworks (TOGAF, Zachmann, etc.)
