About the role
This role will work within the Hair Care Research team, reporting to the Head of HC Research in the UK. Dyson HC Research develop new technologies for future hair care products as well as working to create entirely new product categories. It is the tip of the spear in our product development cycle but also supports those technologies through to integration on product. What gives Dyson our competitive advantage is our ability to measure success in pioneering ways. Our success in Hair Care is a direct result of developing novel, innovative metrics to ensure our technologies and products are making meaningful, measurable and perceivable differences in the lives of our customers.
We are looking for a candidate to continue this tradition and build our next generation metrics and methods that will be used to develop our newest technologies and keep us ahead of our competition.
Key responsibilities:
Develop next-gen metrics and technologies in tandem with New Product Innovation design engineers.
Work autonomously and independently to scope and deliver technology and methods that push the hair care category forward
Turning consumer & technical insights into absolute, measurable tests
Conduct/support research with external institutes and universities toward future technologies development
Design, build, and test useful methods, and disseminate knowledge to groups at all levels.
About you
Experience with method development, design, build and analysis
Experience deploying test systems and controlling the data outputs from them
Practical, hands on coding experience in creating and supporting software for engineers.
Strong engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering (other disciplines with relevant experience will be considered)
Strong Statistical methods and design of experiments
Experienced and confident understanding and extracting useful information from academic papers/sources
Advanced knowledge of Matlab, LabView, or Python (or alternative coding languages)
