Operations Process Manager

Dyson Operations team plays an essential role in overall Dyson product development framework and structure. With our development process being dynamic and innovative, we need a strong operation team to ensure we have the products manufactured with the best quality and cost, delivered to the markets with the right quantity on time.

About the role

Operations Process Managers are primarily responsible for driving quality and efficiency into our product development operations processes. They need to work closely with the relevant operations Process Owners as well as other functional owners (e.g. Quality, RDD, CEO Office), to both influence and support our approach to product development.

The purpose of the role is to combine subject matter expertise with change and project management skills, being the process anchor points within overall product development operations structure. To be effective, the Operations Process Managers need to be the go-to experts within specific fields of product development practices.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Process Development

  • Collaborate closely with Operations Process Owners to ensure processes are defined with clear guidance, KPIs and governance mechanisms; whilst also driving to reduce cost, improve efficiency, and improve effectiveness through process optimization.

  • Build and maintain relationships with key Operations stakeholders globally across Dyson including representatives from the Functions that you are supporting coupled with Manufacturing Engineering, Procurement, Tooling, Supply Planning, Contract Manufacturing Management and Dyson In-house Manufacturing.

Process Optimization

  • Develop our ability to quickly identify process problem statement through Root Cause analysis and other relevant methodologies and tools.

  • Identify process improvement opportunities within designated process areas, utilising internal and external resources as appropriate.

  • Lead solutions implementation and drive for continuous improvements.

Process Governance

  • Lead Operation Phase Review and play an essential role on the operations PD governance.

  • Drive the development of the required tools and KPIs to support adherence to best practices.

  • Work closely with the Business Intelligence team and Process Owners to track process performance and identify areas for improvement or support.

  • Focus on maximizing the benefits within operations functions and cross-functional interactions.

Change Management

  • Work closely with senior leadership team on change management aspects of operations transformation programs, in terms of communication strategy and executions, training strategy and executions.

  • Be the process engagement contacts on any operations related system implementation programs.

  • Ensure the required guidance and support is in place to enable end users to adhere to best practices.

About you

  • Candidates must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/ Management.

  • At least 5-10 years working experiences in leading global/regional and complex Program management and business process management, preferably from electronics manufacturing environment with a well-developed knowledge and understanding of manufacturing and procurement processes and best practices.

  • Strong Project and Program Management Skills.

  • Expertise in process optimization tools and techniques. Ability to breakdown problems into manageable, measurable elements.

  • A high level of analytical ability and problem-solving skills. A methodical and logical approach, attention to detail and ability to challenge assumptions and convention. Manipulate large and complex data sets to identify trends and recommend improvements or provide a solution.

  • Track record of creating and embedding change programs across multiple functions and achieving process change in global organizations.

  • Technical, personal and leadership credibility to work effectively with cross functional team on both working and leadership levels.

  • Ability to drive business change through influencing business leaders and functions using sound communication and collaborative decision-making skills.

  • Good decision-making abilities, ability to create accountability and lead by example.

  • Able to set tactical requirements to meet strategic direction. Self-motivated with the ability to plan ahead, priorities tasks and co-ordinate others.

  • Strong skills and experience partnering with leaders in the business – identifying needs and finding solutions that multiple leaders can agree on.

  • Good communication skills with good command of written & spoken English, ability to communicate professionally and effectively with different levels of internal and external contacts.

  • Capable of communicating complex ideas simply and paying attention to details without losing the bigger picture.

  • Solid leader and team player, comfortable dealing with all business levels and all departments.

  • Flexible and adaptable with the ability to manage changes in project scope.

  • Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.

  • Change management certification preferred.

  • Project management certification preferred.

  • Experience with PLM Systems, SAP Suites application, MES, Cost management systems.
