Our team is responsible for the early stages of research and development of Dyson’s high-speed Hyperdymium™ motor drives, Lithium Ion battery management, AC-DC and DC-DC power conversion up to 3kW, and heater control. We use this knowledge to design state-of-the-art systems to differentiate Dyson from the competition.

About The Role
Dyson offers a unique opportunity for a talented an Electronics Engineer specialising in Power Electronics to join the Electronic Systems Research Team, based in Malmesbury, Wiltshire, U.K.
Research into new technology and investigating ways of incorporating this technology into future products.
Collaborate with various teams to understand and capture the power system requirement.
Design of both mains and battery powered power electronics hardware.
Design to meet global compliance, safety and EMC standards for the product.
SPICE simulations to show plausibility of electronic designs.
Schematic capture and PCB layout of designs.
Thermal management design of power electronics.
Hand soldering and build of individual prototype electronics using mixed technology components.
Testing and validation of prototypes using state of the art lab equipment.
Document work in well-written, precise reports and produce condensed information and imagery for presentations to senior management.
Degree (or equivalent) and /or experience in electronic engineering or comparable discipline.
Experience in at least one of: motor drives, inverters, SMPS, heater control, chargers, battery management systems, power transfer.
Good knowledge of power electronic devices, including silicon based IGBTs and MOSFETs and wide bandgap technologies and ability to interpret device datasheets.
Some knowledge of analogue electronics a plus.
Experience using SPICE based simulation tools using manufacturers device models.
Experience of schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium Design, Mentor Graphics or other mainstream tools.
Experience in hand soldering of through hole and surface mount components using soldering iron or hot-air rework station.
Experience of programming microcontrollers is a plus.
Fluent in spoken and written English.
Ability to communicate appropriate, concise and accurate information in written and verbal format.
