Core engineering processes are mission critical to our product development (PD) operating model. At Dyson product development is dynamic and innovative. Our products are built to last and perform. The PD Architecture team sit within the Dyson Delivery and Integration Office (DD&IO) and work with representatives from global teams across the company to relentlessly improve everything we do in line with the business vision
About the role
Reporting into the Head of Virtual Tools, Methods and Processes this role will unify the strategy and energise the implementation plan across RDD, Quality & Operations, the DDIO and IT by aligning the delivery roadmaps to deliver a fit for purpose Virtual Series to Dyson
Provide thought leadership and be responsible for the converting the strategic business vision into a series of large transformational and/or continuous improvement activities. Captured in a road map that is backed up with a multi-year plan, in turn underpinned by a series of fully resourced and prioritised projects.
Own the vision for the Virtual Series across all invested stakeholders and ensure compatibility of application throughout the product lifecycle.
To strengthen and leverage our strategic partnerships for the benefit of the business and push for the Dyson implementation of their toolset to be the best in the world.
Own and change manage a road map that turbocharges the Virtual Series initiative and embeds it business as usual in how we develop products.
This position will serve to transform and embed best practices of Computer Aided Engineering and change management within a product development environment e.g. Product Lifecyle Management (PLM), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) along with their respective functional work-flows.
Form an effective partnership with the digital teams (IT) to ensure the infrastructure, connection to the vendors and access to the relevant application’s development community.
Align across communities of practise that feed coherent road maps and drive the embedding of improvements into PD activities and drive awareness to the wider community.
You will be recognised as credible contributor in your field of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) with an expert knowledge and an understanding of product development best practice across other disciplines.
Experience in Siemens and the ANSYS suite of tools
Technical, personal and leadership credibility to work effectively with cross functional RDD teams, other business functions and business leaders. Comfortable working autonomously to resolve complex challenges where no precedent exists.
You will have a proven ability to mentor and guide individuals, proactively disseminating your knowledge and assisting in technical people development.
Experience of working in and possibly managing diverse teams
Demonstrate commercial acumen and that you have a pragmatic approach to capability development that focus business cases on outcomes and benefit realisation.
You will be curious and have a mind-set of wrong thinking. You will naturally spot connections, see opportunities when others don’t and be comfortable in a ‘challenge culture’
You will have strong long-term thinking skills with examples, understand how to make good decisions and spot opportunities
An appreciation of the impact of change and what is required to deliver it
Proven experience in managing resources, strong influencing skills and be adept at managing stakeholders
Ability to communicate complex ideas simply and possess an Inherent desire to drive improvement through new ways of working.
Experience in Product Lifecyle Management tools, ideally Teamcenter
