About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced simulation Engineer to work within a small team of like-minded engineering problem solvers within our Research, Design and Development department. A Successful candidate will use simulation to support the development of projects, driving the development and accuracy of currently used simulation tools and processes and building expertise in new areas and applications of simulation.  

Reporting to the Head of Technology Development, the Principal Simulation Engineer will lead the charge in using simulation to our most complex problems. Working with projects at all stages of the development life cycle, they will collaborate across Technology Development, Design Engineering, Electronics and DDM teams to improve and grow our simulation capabilities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Use of FEA & CFD simulations to explore our understanding in new designs and technologies.
  • Driving the development and optimisation of our existing simulation tools, skills and processes.
  • Exploring new simulation tools and methodologies.
  • Investigating and improving model validation and accuracy
  • Mentoring junior team members to support them with simulation challenges.

About you

  • A degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline
  • A high level of competence in the use and application of CAE tools to assist design development.  Experience with both FEA and CFD simulation is preferable, but experience with either will be considered.
  • An excellent working knowledge of commercial CAD tools, preferably with experience of the NX suite of products.
  • A demonstrated ability to bring onboard new simulation tools and processes.
  • An ability to communicate at all levels, from indirect reports to board level, with confidence, accuracy and appropriate detail 
  • The proven ability to work as part of a team or un-supervised to an agreed goal or set of deliverable's is imperative.
  • A proven structured approach to creative problem solving.
