About us
Dyson is a global technology enterprise. We solve the problems others choose to ignore, with surprising new inventions that defy convention and simply work better. We’re driven by progress and thrive on the challenge of relentless improvement. We’re growing fast and our ambition is huge – more categories, more locations and more people.
We push the boundaries of what others have defined as possible. Our engineering approach starts with different thinking. Then we continuously refine our ideas – unwilling to compromise and driven by an obsession for finding a better way. Today we employ more than 5,800 people around the world in software engineering, mechanical engineering and science-related roles.
Our Energy Storage team is responsible for new battery technology that will deliver significantly better performance than conventional battery cells.
About the role
The main role of Associate/Principal Engineer is to provide technical leadership, support and direction for the new proprietary process of Li-Ion Battery Assembly Process. The Associate/Principal Engineer will work together with RDD (Research, Design and Development) to scale up from existing pilot prototype lines into fully automated production lines to mass produce high volume battery assembly.
Candidate for this role is expected to work closely with RDD, Operations, Procurement, Finance and our key suppliers ensuring new Equipment/Product/Process/Materials are successfully setup and have sufficient margin with capability of being produced in high volume manufacturing environment at the targeted cost and within planned timeframe.
The identified candidate will help to maximize design flexibility, increase manufacturing capability and lower production costs at early stages of the project. They will also be expected to identify future opportunities/benefits and establish value driven manufacturing roadmaps for execution into manufacturing operations.
About the role
As the Associate Principal or Principal Engineer of Process Integration, this position plays a pivotal role in connecting, optimising and streamlining various production processes to ensure efficient end-to-end operations..
The role involves analysing existing processes, identifying bottlenecks, planning and design to implementation, monitoring and providing solutions to enhance productivity and quality.
Study the engineering fundamentals of materials, process and equipment design interactions through systematic design of experiments or troubleshooting methodologies, and how they can be optimized to achieve the final product design specifications, as well as quality, yield, safety and reliability aspects.
Lead and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, such as RDD, Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain, to ensure all the materials, components and steps within the process work seamlessly to integration, coordination, and alignment within each process and across processes.
Oversee the implementation of new technologies, manage process documentation, and continuously monitor performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
Develop and map out manufacturing roadmap based on next generation product roadmap, lead early engagement and development of suppliers, to feed to next generation product requirements.
Interface with Research and RDD in early product development phase to enhance new product transition process, by providing design review focusing on Design for Manufacturing/Assembly (DFM/DFA), offering high volume manufacturing options, and executing feasibility testing with suppliers.
Overall, the goal of this role is to create a cohesive and synchronized manufacturing environment, enhance productivity that maximises output, minimises waste and delivers high-quality outcomes.
