Procurement Manager- Automation

About us

This role sits within the Global Direct Procurement Organization and will work in the area of Sourcing and Commodity Management of Automation and Equipment in support of Sustaining Engineering, Optimization, Upgrading and Dyson New Product Development (NPD).

About the role

  • Help to shape Dyson's future by managing a number of Automation and Equipment vendors in multiple locations across an assigned  commodity, 

  • Manage the sourcing process of Production Line Equipment to support Automation, Test and Productivity Improvement Activities supporting Production and New Product Development (NPD). Accountability for managing suppliers and projects end to end, ensuring business needs are met and projects are completed on time and on budget

  • Develop Commodity Strategy and Standardization for assigned commodity in collaboration with Manufacturing and Equipment Engineering Organization.

  • Manage the assigned commodity in line with agreed strategy, ensuring Dyson's and Procurement's objectives and KPI's (Quality, Cost, Delivery) are achieved and any deviations are managed with clear communication and management reviews.

  • Execute price benchmarking and develop Dyson Preferred Pricing and Cost Roadmap for high runners in commodity

  • Conduct supplier benchmarking(through RFI's, RFQ's) to support Manufacturing and Engineering teams objectives; execute price benchmarking and develop Dyson preferred pricing and cost roadmap for high volume components in commodity

  • Ensure roll out of Dyson Preferred Pricing to Dyson Equipment & Automation Partners.

  • Drive Lead Time and Service/Support Improvements from Commodity Suppliers to assist business needs.

  • Supplier management - from identifying potential suppliers through to managing the RFQ process, contract negotiation and supplier onboarding; conducting risk analysis and leading supplier business reviews with a cross functional team to effectively manage contract adherence & performance.

  • Support a continuous improvement program to advance procurement processes, governance and capabilities across the group.

  • An element of overseas travel is anticipated with this role

About you

  • Degree in Engineering AND/OR Supply Chain Management or Relevant Career Experience in a related function.

  • A self-starter who can stay focused whilst managing several different projects at a time, work collaboratively with internal Manufacturing and Engineering teams as well as Suppliers and see the job through to completion.

  • Demonstrate several years successful experience in sourcing production lines, automation and associated equipment for high volume products with experience in new product introduction.  Knowledge of SEA based vendors is essential.

  • Understanding of equipment specifications, part drawings etc. and be able to challenge the manufacturing/engineering team – look for effective solutions, make suggestions for alternatives (through knowledge gained or use of VA/VE analysis etc.)

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills: to be able to assess problems thoroughly and drive logical conclusions

  • Strong Integrity and Character to manage high level interaction with Internal and External Stakeholders

  • Able to demonstrate ability to evaluate supplier proposals, identify risks and opportunities, determine the correct cost level and be able to make supplier selection proposals.

  • A proactive approach and are forward thinking - you think ahead, identify risks and issues and are able to propose solutions. You plan your time and your projects taking relevant factors into account.

  • Integrity and confidence under pressure – always presenting the facts no matter what the circumstances.  Be able to prepare presentations and present to senior management.
