The new Employee Services function within Dyson Business Services (DBS) organisation will provide process and service excellence to support Dyson's growth ambitions with a goal of innovating and enhancing payroll services over time to meet the changing needs of the business.

About the Role

The procurement team is expanding to keep up with our ambition.  This has created new roles for Category Managers across all the procurement categories – Marketing, IT, Property, IT, Retail, Logistics.  We want you to help deliver our objectives.  We’re a lean team focused on driving real value in enabling a rapidly growing business. 

You should see your role as improving business outcomes, rather than ticking boxes.  The role will support one of our global category procurement teams within a 50-person Global Indirect Procurement Team located between the UK, Chicago, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Singapore, Japan, China, Philippines and Malaysia.

Key Responsibilities

Impact on Business

  • Actively participate in the development and support the execution of the overall category strategy to achieve or exceed agreed savings targets for the category.
  • Managing competitive bidding processes using Dyson’s preferred tool, Ariba Sourcing (RFIs, RFPs, e-auctions etc).
  • Helping to develop a supply base to build the capacity and capability to deliver the business’ requirements.
  • Supporting Dyson’s supplier management and corporate, social and environmental standards programmes within the supply base
  • Continually monitoring compliance across the indirect spend and driving corrective action as necessary.

Customers / Stakeholders

  • As part of the relevant Procurement Team, support the development of dynamic, robust, forward-looking category plans based on business needs, supply market dynamics, and technological changes in marketplace.
  • Engage with stakeholders to keep them appraised of project progress as directed by your manager
  • Support supplier relationship management in the classification of new suppliers to determine the most appropriate SRM treatment.

Operational Effectiveness & Control

  • Support in delivering a pipeline of projects to achieve or exceed agreed savings target for the category.
  • Keep management appraised of issues and progress on projects.
  • Ensure category and project data (savings, pipeline, milestones, risks, issues, taxonomy) is accurate and reflective of reality.
  • Ensure quality of content and compliance with relevant sourcing and category planning governance.

About You


  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent.
  • Fluent oral and written English
  • >5 year’s experience in procurement with experience of RFPs, RFIs, RFxs
  • Experience in category procurement across one or more of Logistics, Marketing, Retail, Professional Services, IT
  • Hungry to learn
  • Comfortable in a dynamic, fast-paced, challenging environment
  • Good numeracy & analytical skills
  • Able to work in diverse environments and adhere to highest ethical standards
  • Confidence and credibility with good communication and relationship management skills
  • Demonstrates personal energy, productivity, encouraging good resilience in others
