Procurement Manager - NPI & Research Tactical Procurement

About the role

Procurement Engineering is an exciting function that sits at the very heart of Dyson. Partnering closely with key stakeholders in NPI (New Product Innovation) Research and Engineering, the Procurement Engineering team support and develop the procurement and supply chain strategies that will help define Dyson’s future success. As part of the Global Manufacturing and Procurement Team, Procurement Engineering lead and drive upstream procurement activity across all categories for new technologies and new supplier engagements. Procurement engineering work collaboratively alongside our Research and NPI Partners through the early stages of the NPI process to ensure we are building robust new supply chains that have optimum cost, quality and performance outcomes.


  • Be the first point of contact for our NPI & Research colleagues to support early supplier engagement for tactical engagements where required

  • Collaborate with NPI & Research stakeholders to provide transparency throughout the supplier on-boarding process

  • Working in tandem with NPI & Research to provide tactical procurement undertakings and support appropriate contracting with external suppliers, liaising with Dyson’s legal team

  • Liaising with external suppliers to resolve issues during on-boarding and to resolve contractual negotiations

  • Co-ordinate with our upstream project management colleagues to review planned spend and plan activity to ensure effective coverage from the procurement side

  • Identify and drive improvements within Dyson’s early supplier engagement processes, working with procurement engineering colleagues

  • Integrate with cross functional activities designed to develop processes and mitigate risks relating to sample and prototyping purchases across a broad range of commodities

  • Optimise and sustain a high performing metrics and programme management system to optimise delivery of PE output into Dyson’s programmes

  • Procurement PR approver, implementing governance and ensuring adherence to policy, advising requestors of any edits or additional requirements to be satisfied to achieve approval

About you

  • Resilient, collaborative and attuned, this individual demonstrates a passion for Procurement and the benefits it can bring to a business

  • Strong commercial acumen with a demonstrable history of transactional or operational procurement success and project management capability

  • Experience in developing strong working relationships to influence internal and external stakeholders

  • Comfortable working autonomously with the ability to manage procurement activity in an efficient and organised manner

  • At ease communicating effectually on a one-on-one basis as well as with medium to large sized groups, demonstrating flexibility and tailoring engagement styles where needed

  • Experience working with and negotiating contracts is highly desirable

  • Experience working with SAP Ariba would be an advantage
