Product Experience Designer

About us

We are the Product Experience (PEx) team within New Product Innovation at Dyson. Our team works within Global Design, where Product Experience, Industrial Design, CMF, Packaging, Model-making, and UI design come together to create cohesive and engaging future experiences for our users. 

We create multi-platform interactions between our machines and users, by designing features to apply to their physical, psychological, and social needs - our goal is to make the best possible user experience with the machine. 

We are a multidisciplinary team that comes together to create product features, diversify existing features and push the limits of our technology. 

We are looking for creative and inquisitive, self-starters looking to help us define the future of Product experience at Dyson.  

We support and encourage people to expand their core skills as designers and work outside their current boundaries – so for those that love to tinker and explore we would love to hear from you. 


About the role

  • Obsessed with how and why people interact with products, machines, apps, their connected home systems 

  • Comfortable with flexibility and moving briefs 

  • Comfortable with orchestrating and helping different teams we collaborate with 

  • Able to teach us new things about ways of working, idea generation and just how things can be done better – we always want to improve not just our products but ourselves 

  • Have an interest in why things work the way that they do or experience working alongside software or hardware seeing how so 

  • Interest in making concepts suitable for everyone, and anyone  

  • Able to connect people to ideas in a way that generates excitement 

  • Avid storyteller, via whichever means are the most appropriate or engaging for the audience 

  • Happy to rely on experts in subject matter 

  • Confident in presentation scenarios, with large or small audiences is key 

  • An appreciation and understanding of UX methodologies 

  • Love of keeping up to date with the technology world and its big players. 


About you

  • We are fans of traditional and nontraditional career paths, we are open to hear about your experiences in the UX world, for example this may be: UX design/consultancy, UX/UI, Product design, Interaction design, Industrial design, Accessibility design/consultancy, prototyping and more. 

  • Creative, pitch and storytelling teams. Your role would have been to help sell an idea to a client or internally to your senior management teams.  

  • A fluid role where you typically worked outside of your job role.

  • Straight out of university or college where you are eager to help share your learnings and apply it to real-world projects.  

  • Experience in one design discipline and want to branch out into something new.
