About the role

This is an exciting new role that requires solid technical and commercial understanding to lead development and execution of product roadmaps consisting of improvement projects, cost-down, reliability, and competitor strategies to maximise the business performance of Dyson’s existing and in-market product portfolio.  

Product Lifecycle is a new function, which manages the existing product range to maximise business performance.  This includes new feature developments and projects covering reliability, cost-down and production support.  It also includes working with commercial and markets teams to ensure Dyson Hair Care products are positioned well in markets and the customer journey is successful.

A Product Management role, this role will be pivotal in managing Dyson’s Hair Care products’ performance and feeding back requirements into the next-generation of product in the pipeline.  The role will focus on driving performance through a product lens, analysing the product segments, developing the product roadmap, defining objectives and targets, planning and leading execution. Following are some of the key aspects of the role:

  • Own Product Lifecycle view and develop roadmaps for each product assigned.

  • Carry out deep-dive analyses through systems and suppliers to develop tangible actions for the roadmap and determine optimal approach to execution.

  • Prioritise and drive projects and initiatives on the roadmap.

  • Identify and scope improvement opportunities to meet strategic product and business objectives.

  • Drive delivery, resolve and escalate risks and issues.

  • Maintain view of and impact on Product financial performance.

  • Obtain and analyse cross-functional data for product-focused prioritisation and decision-making for Lifecycle.

About you

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial design, engineering, science or appropriate equivalent.

  • Preferably a qualification in business administration, management, finance or programme management or equivalent.

  • Possess a developed strength of character, leadership skills and tenacity to drive a diverse range of projects through in complex or ambiguous circumstances. 

  • Must be able to make sense of complex situations, form a strong, fact-based opinion or hypothesis, plan a way forward, engage a team and execute the work.

  • Ability to communicate a vision, influence and gain support for execution.

  • Knowledge in Core engineering processes e.g. Requirements Mgmt., Engineering Change Mgmt., Risk & Issue Mgmt., change management, impact analysis, concessions and implementation strategies.

  • Knowledge in the product cost element, Value Analysis & Value Engineering.

  • Leading of a group of multi-discipline engineers, managers from different geographical sites to deliver different multiple projects bucketed under sustaining from production support to cost initiatives.

  • Has a well-developed ability to collaborate with and influence key project stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes.

  • Able to assemble appropriate cross functional teams and lead them to an aligned conclusion.

  • Excellent problem solver with an established ability to manage complex technical challenges across a broad range of disciplines e.g. mechanical engineering, electronics, motors, software and connectivity.

  • Proficient verbal communicator with outstanding presentation skills capable of addressing all levels of the business.

  • Requiring strong levels of perseverance. Adaptable to change, thrives in a fast-paced environment. A motivator who remains positive in the face of adversity.

  • Detailed operational and manufacturing knowledge that can influence the direction of project development.

  • Competent at recording, managing and prioritising project risks. Identifying and escalating decision making where appropriate.

  • Proven experience in various tooling and manufacturing techniques.
