A Product Lifecycle Programme Manager is needed to join the Power Systems Team and become the Lifecycle main point of contact within RDD, Operations and across categories. The role is also an escalation point for any current in-production issues with Power Systems projects and will work closely with counterparts and cross-functional peers from across the business to ensure alignment that drives product quality and profitability.
About the role
Reporting to the Head of Programme Management, you will lead and deliver projects that will be an instrumental part of Dyson's product development and operations, influencing a multi-disciplinary team of project managers and engineers across functions.
The role requires significant leadership skills and technical understanding with the incumbent needing to understand and communicate status, risk and technical progress to senior management; whilst interacting with key stakeholders in the engineering, operations and quality teams as well as key suppliers:
Maximises category profit stream from the current “in-production” product portfolio
Participates in annual “ranging” planning activity
Feeds back to Category Product Planning on tactical product actions to enhance profitability
Seeks to minimise Category Quality Cost per unit
Establish operating framework and governance model for robust and scalable lifecycle activities
Assesses impact of supply constraints and makes recommendations on mitigation options
Communicate between teams within RDD and Operations organisation to ensure effective and timely input; resolve conflicts and lead solutions
Lead communication with all stakeholders acting as a first point of contact.
Coach and mentor Project Managers
Collaborate with the Programmes Manager establishing priorities and scope to avoid conflicts or bottlenecks and resolve programme level risks and issues.
Ensure best practice to optimise project delivery and drive consistency across programme and functions.
Drive consistency of information management and reporting. Demands the highest quality data.
Manage senior stakeholders and cross project teams, removing barriers, building relationships and resolving conflict, ensuring good collaboration across teams
About you
5+ years Project management experience in a similar engineering high technology field demonstrating in depth knowledge and experience of all stages of the project and programme life cycle (i.e. estimating and planning, risk management, status reporting, budget tracking, benefits analysis, stakeholder management and communication, resource management)
Master or bachelor’s degree in Engineering
Ability to set tactical direction to meet the business strategy and align their team to this.
Demonstrable expertise in driving Organisational Design, Change Management and effective Communication Planning
Strong communicator with a can-do attitude, ability to convey complex issues concisely and accurately
Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to build productive working relationships and influence
Solid leadership skills; able to form complex and high performing teams quickly
Strong conflict resolution skills (assertiveness, active listening, empathy...)
Excellent analytical skills, to be able to assess problems thoroughly and drive logical conclusions
Confident, experienced and comfortable with interacting with senior executives without being tempted to dilute unpleasant news or back down from well-reasoned analysis
Credible; ability to demonstrate a good level of understanding of engineering processes in order to work with design teams throughout the project development cycle
To be able to multi-task and plan effectively when working with a variety of project teams in an often high-pressure, competitive environment
