The Technology Development department comprises of diverse groups of curious, world class engineering specialists. We are experts in our fields, and we ensure Dyson products are on the edge of what’s possible. The department encompasses five key groups – Product Performance, Acoustics, System Technology, CAE and Principal. This role resides within the Product Performance group, which provides technical analysis of hair appliance product performance. Such as how well the product dries and styles hair.
About the role
We are looking for a Product Performance Intern to join the Product Performance group within the Technology Development department. Some of your tasks could include:
1. Collaborate with a project team to deliver optimized hair style and drying performance in line with product vision.
Establish the fundamental factors that contribute to performance. Establishing correlations between those identified factors to optimize and predict performance.
Analyze and make recommendation from experimental tests or analytical assessments.
Design tests and corresponding test plans to understand the fundamental contributing factors that drive the target performance metric.
Write scripts / Excel / Minitab analysis to create predictive models for performance.
Propose design mitigations, recommendations to achieve hair style and dry performance targets
Communicate well with the stakeholders, present work in a coherent well documented manor.
2. Proactively assess risk and solve problems impacting hair style and drying performance for Haircare project attachment
Identify, characterize, and highlight risk in a clear and concise manner
Formulate a good problem statement before devoting time to solving a problem
Assess the lower-level requirements that affect performance to ensure hair style and drying performance meets the claim target.
Be a key contributor in assessment of performance trade-off as required
3. Actively challenge status quo and support improvement initiatives in various aspect of business. Identify and develop new opportunities/tools/methods with the aim of enhancing the performance, reliability, and time to market of Dyson products
Ensure work is well document and in a state that can be referenced by all for future use.
About you
Our internship roles are competitive and delivering the next generation of Dyson technology is tough, so you will need to be:
Graduating by Q3 2024, and able to commit for a minimum of 12 weeks.
Studying towards a degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent.
A good working knowledge of physics fundamentals and measurement and statistical analysis is preferred.
Basic competency in Minitab, MATLAB or Excel or other data acquisition/processing tool.
Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills in English
Ability to receive constructive feedback and coaching and respond appropriately.
Able to communicate ideas and concepts clearly.
Able to work well in a team.
