The Dyson Product Performance - Pickup team is responsible for delivering performance focused technologies that clean dust and debris from the floor. Marketing claims based on Pickup performance are key to Dyson’s success, so the role of Product Performance - Pickup is important for ensuring each technology is understood, robust and well controlled in production.
Product Performance - Pickup team works in RDD and contribute to the development of Dyson products from the evaluation of new technologies right up to verification of the final product. Product Performance - Pickup team will also manage system specifications, design, conduct development testing, monitor performance testing and provide solutions to further improve the machine’s performance.
About the role
You will be assigned to the Product Performance – Pickup team for a 3-4 months internship. Aside of the standard training that Dyson provides, we will also be coaching you in Pickup Systems related technical knowledge to execute the project. The nature for the project will be related to new methodology development for the purpose of improving or revamp existing analysis strategies. Your tasks could include:
Optimize pickup technologies, with systematics and data driven experimental techniques
Utilise signal acquisition and analysis techniques to measure system performance and quantify improvements
To comprehend pickup critical parameters, their effects to other product performances and methods to verify them.
Manage and hands on for the investigative test
Interface with others team during improvement studies
Document the developed strategy in details for future knowledge sharing and improvement opportunities.
About you
Working at the forefront of technology is tough so standards and expectations are high. You’ll be contributing to live projects from the start so you’ll need to be curious, hungry to learn and ready to get stuck in. But it’s not just about technical expertise. Our internships are competitive and delivering the next generation of Dyson technology is tough, so you’ll need to:
Be studying towards a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
Able to commit for at least 12 weeks and graduating by Q3 2024
Able to work autonomously with guidance from his/her Line Manager
Basic understanding of statistical and 6 sigma techniques
Good interpersonal, presentation and project handling skills
Able to do hands on work with prototype preparation and testing
Proactive, self-starter and eager to deliver high quality engineering project work
Has an aptitude for trouble shooting and problem solving
Able to evidence how you have applied your technical knowledge to solve problems, either through your university projects or as part of your extra-curricular activities
