About the role

We are looking for an exceptional individual to come and join our Environmental Care Product Programmes team. Reporting into the Head of Product Programmes, this individual will take on the leadership of the EC Programme Management team in Malaysia. Through a team of Project Managers, this individual will be responsible for the delivery of the projects within Environmental Care and the development/improvement and adherence to Dyson project management and governance processes.

  • Accountable for programme management activities within the EC Category team to enable delivery of all projects on cost/spec and time to meet the EC Category growth ambitions.
  • Leadership and direction of global, cross functional teams to ensure communication and collaboration; resolve conflicts and lead solutions in a highly complex environment.
  • Global key stakeholder management – keeping the EC Category Leadership team up to speed with the status of the projects through standardized and efficient programme reporting.
  • Effective management, coaching and development of the EC programme management team. Highlight future potential and build a strong succession plan. Build and maintain a high performing team.
  • Chair monthly Category Delivery Reviews: forums into which delivery and resource issues are escalated. Worth with project leaders to resolve the resource constraints on their projects by working with senior functional managers around the business.
  • Represent EC at the Product Delivery Steering Group, a forum set to drive forward the Project Management processes within Dyson. Champions these improvements with EC and help the team come up with and roll out new/improved processes.
  • Manage the resource demand and allocation of the Category headcount using resource management tools. Highlight future surplus/deficit challenges and work with the functions within Category to grow the team to the right size.
  • Lead recruitment activities within the EC programme management team: interview and bring in the best future talent.
  • Create scenario schedules/resource profiles for the EC Category Leadership team to assess the timing and resourcing impact of various product roadmap options.
  • Represent Category Programme Management in “All Hands Briefings” and communicate upcoming major milestones with the cross functional teams.
  • Sit at the EC Product Programme leadership table and be involved in the running of the wider product delivery team.

About you

  • Hold, or demonstrate an understanding of, formal project management qualifications (such as APMP/PMI).
  • Candidate should possess a degree in Engineering, Project Management or can demonstrate equivalent experience. If not from a technical background, the candidate should be able to demonstrate experience of working in highly technical environments.
  • A proven track record in managing large/complex project and/or managing a programme of project delivery.
  • Experience in the delivery of technology products is beneficial, and the candidate should be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of product development processes and frameworks.
  • Experience of managing teams, mentoring, developing and coaching other professionals.
  • Experience of working at a programme level, whereby resource/cost/time decisions need to be made across projects, that drive the maximum benefit for the Category.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, including Microsoft Project.
  • Outstanding project management capabilities (i.e. leadership, senior stakeholder management and communication, risk management, issue resolution, budget tracking, benefits analysis, estimating and planning etc.).
  • Ability to use these project management skills in innovative ways and remain flexible as the role develops.
  • Strong communicator: ability to listen and convey complex issues concisely and accurately.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to build productive working relationships and influence others.
  • Excellent analytical skills: the ability to assess problems thoroughly and drive logical conclusions
  • Appreciation and understanding of the critical business functions contribution NPD including Commercial, Finance, Quality and Operations functions.
  • Confident; comfortable interacting with senior executives without diluting unpleasant news or well-reasoned analysis.
  • Assertive; readiness to challenge teams to take remedial action when required.
  • Credible; ability to demonstrate understanding of engineering processes in order to work with design teams throughout the project development cycle.
  • Shrewd: The ability to multi-task and plan effectively when working with a variety of project teams in a fast-paced and often high-pressure, competitive environment.
