About the role

Forming a large proportion of the IT Function, the Dyson Business Technology team are arranged into investment areas including Owner Experience, Retail, Supply Chain & Manufacturing, Product Development and Finance & Procurement.

Reporting to a Senior Project Manager or Project Manager, you will

  • be testing and developing your delivery skills through planning, scheduling, and delivering a low complexity project or a delegated workstream of a larger project or programme within time, cost, and quality constraints.

  • be interacting with subject matter experts, Global IT colleagues and supplier contacts to develop your collaboration and communication skills, and to ensure effective management of change, risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies as well as tracking and reporting delivery against milestones.

  • start to develop an understanding of the complexities of delivering scope and change through the life cycle.

As you build your delivery achievements, resilience, and your knowledge of project management you may take on more than one project or workstream, and also increasingly assist with development of the practice, understanding the different uses and applications of major processes and methodologies, the differences between projects, programmes and portfolios, and the difference between waterfall and Agile philosophies and approaches. You will also be asked to lead collaborative development and documentation of important and often complex processes with multiple touchpoints.

Over the course of this two-year programme, we will work with you to develop your career at Dyson by providing opportunities to rotate between portfolios so that you will deliver projects that span Dyson’s technologies that support designing new products, manufacturing them, shipping them and selling them. At the same time, we will support you in creating and owning your professional and personal development plan, using the PPM talent development framework to baseline your capabilities and identify stretch targets to build your career.

About you

Working at the forefront of technology is tough so standards and expectations are high. You’ll be contributing to live projects from the start, so you’ll need to be curious, hungry to learn, and ready to get stuck in. But it’s not just about technical expertise. You’ll need to:

  • Be studying towards a relevant degree discipline. This can be in any subject area, but motivation and attitude are important to us, and you will need to be able to demonstrate a passion for project management  

  • Graduating in Q3 2022

  • Be able to evidence your passion for delivering projects, either through your university projects or as part of your extra-curricular activities

  • Be able to thrive in Dyson’s fast-paced environment

  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure and service management and an understanding of project management methodologies would advantageous.

  • Passionate about Dyson and our technology to help us meet our ambitious future plans
