Property Accountant - Weybourne

Weybourne Group is the holding company for the Dyson technology company, Dyson Farming, and other diverse business interests. Outside the operating businesses, Weybourne manages an investment portfolio and provides financial and other professional support to the Dyson Family, their estates, and personal business interests. The group covers a wide range of sectors including farming, financial and commercial property investments and residential property. We currently have a team of around 75 employees whose roles cover accountancy, financial control, tax and treasury, commercial property and financial investment management, security, audit, IT and HR based in both the UK and Singapore (where the Group Head Office is located).

The Property Accountant will support the Property Financial Controller and work with the Finance Team and the Property Team to achieve the highest standards of accounting and financial support with specific responsibility for the property investment portfolios of Weybourne Holdings Pte. Limited (WHPL) and its subsidiaries.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Property Financial Controller with all aspects of property portfolio accounting.

  • Developing and maintaining positive working relationships across the Weybourne Group, particularly with the Finance Team, facilitating consistent and efficient reporting.

  • Ensuring month end accounting, reporting, and forecasting is completed in accordance with agreed policies and procedures including commentary and analysis against budget and forecast, supporting the WHPL Finance Team as required.

  • Ensuring the integrity of the financial numbers including preparation and review of control account reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts.

  • Maintaining up-to-date records of all portfolio leases, in liaison with the Property Team, to ensure income is recorded accurately.

  • Liaising with external Property Management company regarding provision of financial information for property portfolio (rents, service charge, insurance recharge etc).

  • Integrating new property acquisitions to portfolio accounting.

  • Project cost monitoring and tracking recoverable works costs where appropriate.

  • Preparing monthly cash forecasts for all property activities.

  • Supporting the Tax Team with quarterly VAT and Singapore GST processes, preparation of Quarterly Instalment Payments (QIP) forecasts and other ad hoc requests.

  • Supporting the year-end reporting process; including:

    • Preparing of statutory accounts for subsidiary companies and supporting external audit documentation.

    • Supporting the external audit in relation to Property for both Group and subsidiary purposes, providing documentation and explanations as required.

    • Providing documentation to the Tax Team and external tax advisers for year-end tax computations, including liaison with wider property team and external contractors.

  • Supporting the preparation of annual budgets and five-year plans for all property activities.

  • Supporting financial aspects of the property acquisition process.

  • Assisting with the annual portfolio insurance renewal process.

  • Assisting with company secretarial duties if required.

  • Liaising with Group Internal Audit as necessary, to assist with audits and implement actions.

  • Supporting accounts payable processes if required.

  • Supporting other ad hoc projects and analysis as directed by Senior Management and the Property Team.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Commitment to developing yourself within your role – undergoing training where necessary.

Person specification / Core Competencies:

  • Qualified ACA / ACCA / CIMA with 1-3 years PQE.

  • Previous experience in a role as an accountant, or similar position.

  • Property accounting and transactions experience desirable but not necessary.

  • Commitment to meeting demanding reporting deadlines.

  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills and an ability to juggle varied demands and workload.

  • Diligent, thorough, and excellent attention to detail with high levels of integrity and confidentiality.

  • Computer literate, with good skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Experience of an ERP system desirable.

  • Confident communication skills, with the ability to interact with individuals from a range of backgrounds.

  • Willing and able to take responsibility and ownership for tasks.

  • Ability to work autonomously when required, whilst still possessing strong teamwork skills.

  • Strong sense of discretion, appreciating the confidential nature.

  • Keen to suggest improvements to current ways of working.
