About the role

We are looking to hire someone to join our team to support to the Rapid Prototyping Department within RDD here at Dyson. In this role you will be working with Dyson prototype products and giving support to the team from an engineering perspective. This could mean you are performing tasks such as
Folding, Punching, Guillotining a variety of materials and using processes such as Micro-Tig, TAG MAG welding. You will need to be proficient in all of these processes and will undergo welding coding through Dyson to make sure weld quality is assured.  Primarily looking for a fully skilled sheet metal worker that has welding experience.
 

Main purpose of job

  • Provide Fabrication and Welding support for Rapid Prototyping within Dyson

  • Provide “Coded” Welding to industry recognised standards.

  • Principal Accountabilities

  • Responsible For providing Support to the Rapid Prototyping Department within RDD here at Dyson

  • Help as and when required within the Rapid Prototyping support environment.

  • Support for the RDD stores.

  • Support for the Additive Manufacturing Departments to include

  • Machining, SLS, SLA, Objet\Laser, Sheet Metal and Welding

  • Liaise with engineers to achieve the required components to the required level of detail and deliver on the agreed time.

  • Maintain records of all work carried out and document using work planners.

  • Conduct yourself within the Dyson principles of “Different Pioneering, Authentic”

  • Abide by ALL current legislation regarding “Health and Safety”.

  • Fully support any Dyson departments with their requirements and be an ambassador for the Rapid Prototyping Department within RDD.

About You

  • Indentured engineering apprenticeship preferable.

  • Proven track record of having at least 5 years in a similar role

  • Fully conversant with existing health and safety policies required for you to perform role.

  • Conversant with a CAD package to assist you in this role.

  • Be able to interpret engineering drawing and check the finished part against it.

  • Have a proven track record of keen collaboration with other engineers to produce parts to a agreed level of resolution.

  • Communicates effectively and regularly at all levels required for the role.

  • The ability to build effective co-operative relationships with others

  • Planning and Organising: Able to develop clear, efficient and logical approaches to work

Desirable Skills Knowledge and experience.

  • City and Guilds 221 in sheet metal or 165 in Welding.

  • To hold or have held weld coding’s covering most of the recognised Common materials and joint fitments.

  • Teamwork: Shows the willingness to put the goal of the team before personal goals 

  • Fully conversant with a CAD package to assist you in this role.

  • Proven track record working in a research and development environment.

  • Proven track record in an engineering environment
