Dyson has a strong and influential Quality, Safety and Sustainability business function. Within Quality, the New Product Quality department collaborates with Design, Development, Operations, Procurement and Commercial to drive forward advances in both product reliability and product satisfaction on all projects across all categories before launch. This role is to strengthen New Product Quality through leading the cross-functional implementation of a Quality Management System (QMS) to achieve successful ISO certification and FDA approval.
About the role
Reporting to the Head of New Product Quality and Safety, this role is an outstanding opportunity to shape quality management at Dyson. The role primarily concerns developing and implementing across multiple business functions a QMS to achieve ISO13485 certification and enable successful FDA 21 CFR part 820 regulatory approval.
The primary responsibilities are below:
Develop QMS strategy to achieve ISO13485 certification and FDA regulatory approval in line with product launch timing
Engage with multiple cross-functional stakeholder groups to achieve stakeholder support for and active engagement with QMS
Lead creation of QMS work packages across multiple business functions and build resource capability to enable delivery
Lead creation of QMS cross-functional deployment plan
Lead cross-functional team to deliver QMS deployment plan and manage resolution of operational issues to ensure delivery timing achieved
Lead QMS delivery through implementation of appropriate KPIs and governance and lead report out of progress at senior review forums
Longer term, after leading successful delivery of the cross-functional QMS and achieving regulatory approvals, this role will transition to enhancing and optimising the QMS, expanding the QMS to cover additional projects in different industries, capturing and deploying best practice across Dyson and developing QMS capability across the business
You’ll currently be leading QMS implementation and managing ISO certification and FDA approval at an existing product development company
Demonstrable experience (minimum 5-7 years) and proven track record in leading implementation of QMS across design, development, operations and achieving successful ISO certification and FDA approval
A degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline
Demonstrable deep understanding of QMS and relevant ISO standards (including ISO 13485, ISO 14971, ISO 62366 and ISO 60601) and FDA regulations.
Experienced team manager, highly skilled in team leadership with proven track record in developing teams, building capability and improving performance
Enthusiastic collaborator able to forge new relationships and drive cross-functional progress
Delivery-focused, determined and resilient, ability to achieve results despite challenges and headwinds
Experience of developing strategies and successfully leading change
Sophisticated communication approach, able to effectively lead and influence wide range of stakeholders including peers, team, seniors and cross-functional partners.
