About the role

Reporting to the SEA New Product Quality Senior Manager, this role primarily involves leading NPQ product reliability delivery across multiple projects and suppliers pre-launch including technical risk management, process risk management, engineering verification, control of manufacturing variation and supplier quality maturation. This role also presents the exciting opportunity to build and lead a new team in a new Dyson location in the Philippines. The primary responsibilities are below: 

Responsibilities

  • Target Set (TS) to Engineering Release (ER) milestones for Hair Care projects

  • Technical risk management: Manage implementation of mitigation actions within RDD & Operations to achieve Solution Demonstrated (SD) & ER milestone risk level targets

  • Process risk management: Manage implementation of mitigation actions within RDD & Operations to achieve SD & ER milestone risk level targets

  • Engineering verification: Manage progression of robust root cause analysis and improvement action development on critical to reliability test method failures

  • Control of manufacturing variation: Collaborate with RDD & Operations to ensure manufacturing variation within engineering specs

  • Supplier quality management: Manage quality qualification process for new supplier sourcing, progression of technical risk mitigation actions, progression of process risk mitigation actions, root cause analysis and improvement actions on test method failures and ensure supplier manufacturing variation within engineering specifications

  • Ways of working improvement:  Collaborate with RDD + Operations to develop and implement strengthened ways of working to improve effectiveness of New Product Quality across complex electro-mechanical devices. For example, hardware and software system technical risk mitigation 

  • Build up a strong New Product Quality (NPQ) team in Philippines, and lead towards meeting department KPI and objectives.

  • Lead Philippines NPQ team, build cross-functional collaboration, grow influence to ensure NPQ deliverables achieved at SD and ER milestones

  • Report NPQ status at project milestones with good engagement with Category Quality team. 

  • Train and upskill RDD + Operations colleagues regarding DFMEA, PFMEA, engineering verification methods, control of variation, and process capability.


About You

  • Minimum 7-10 years’ experience in a senior engineering or quality role and strong technical background in product development and/or engineering quality gained from successfully leading teams delivering engineering projects from Design & Development to Operations

  • Knowledge and demonstrable experience of deploying critical-to-quality engineering tools including engineering requirements, technical risk management (e.g. DFMEA) and engineering verification method development and assurance

  • Knowledge and demonstrable experience of deploying critical-to-quality engineering + operations tools including process risk management (e.g. PFMEA), tolerance analysis, controlling variation of critical characteristics, work instructions (or SOP), improving process capability, control plans, achieving fully capable production sign off and part approval process (e.g. PPAP)

  • Good knowledge in system engineering and engineering drawings, which includes GD&T, CAE, FEA and tolerance stack analysis. 

  • Team leadership - central to this role is building and leading a team in a new Dyson location, growing the team’s capabilities and introducing enhanced ways of working which impact multiple stakeholder groups.  We’re looking for candidates with demonstrable experience of creating, developing and leading high performing teams.

  • Ability to demonstrate with experience/ examples some or all of the desired leadership behaviours.

  • Ability to lead and motivate others to achieve outstanding results.

Education Qualification

  • Good (2.1 or better) degree in a science, manufacturing or engineering discipline.
