About Us

The Regional Product Owner is a new addition to the Product Owner family. It is being introduced in recognition of three key facts:

  • Local market expertise and nuances are pivotal to meeting our 80% Direct ambition.
  • The +£100m investment into web platforms to date has delivered a very powerful tool but one that is often underutlised due to lack of product knowledge.
  • Desire to expand into new markets remains strong, with a backlog of 28 planned for 2022 

About the Role

The Regional Product Owner plays a critical role in ensuring is fit for all markets in their region –always considering local needs. The role will be embedded in our Centre of Excellence to ensure we’re taking the wealth of data and insight from our regional teams to build the best features and functionality for markets. generally runs from a single, common, global code base. As such, development sprints will continue to run through the Group Product Owner function. Whereas Group Product owners ‘own’ and are accountable for parts of e.g. Checkout, Site Search, etc. Regional Product Owners will take responsibility for the whole of in their region – therefore maximizing the full product and liasing with all group product owners to deliver new capability.

Day-to-day the role will be varied, including:

  • Embracing the diversity of APAC markets and continuously learning the drivers for direct business growth in each market
  • Capturing regional legal and compliance – ensuring we’re always proactively managing legal and compliance demand; not reacting to it.
  • Ensuring markets are always maximizing and adhering to best practice for existing product features such as site search; product reviews; site speed; and accessibility – where there are significant opportunities to improve performance.
  • Support markets to move onto the right technologies for their size e.g. our latest, strategic platform for big markets like Japan and South Korea or launching Magento 2 for smaller emerging, Direct markets and Distributors .
  • Support business case development across regions and manage demand into the development backlog at Group – always ensuring demand is data driven and reviewing benefits after launch.
  • Provide market nuance and local insights to facilitate the features discussion and prioritisation process 
  • Own weekly regional product communications with market teams so they are clear on new enhancements and the benefits they will bring.

Your role will be hands-on. You’ll need to be comfortable working with stakeholders of all seniority from junior to President level. You will be comfortable using customer experience data tools to generate website experience insights, e.g. Adobe Analytics, Decibel or Foresee. Or running workshops with market stakeholders to define and analyse requirements. You will have the ability to articulate requirements with varying stakeholders, from technical teams through to Creative and UX teams

About You

  • 5-7 years' Product Owner experience     
  • Experience of working in, or knowledge of agile scrum
  • Good understanding of digital and eCommerce
  • A positive and impactful communicator
  • Ability to make pragmatic decisions about business priorities in a fast-moving environment
  • Excellent commercial acumen, comfortable with numbers and basic analytics
  • A proven ability to balance and champion business, brand and customer needs
  • Comfortable speaking to both technical and non-technical teams
  • Confidence to make clear and well-thought recommendations to influence decisions
  • And be super passionate about the web, technology and customer experience.
