The newly established Dyson Business Services (DBS) plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of our operating model. This role is instrumental in ensuring the success of DBS.
DBS is dedicated to delivering process and service excellence, aiming to provide strategic value to the company. It constantly innovates and refines its services to align with the evolving needs of the business. As a Reporting Developer, your primary responsibility will be to develop, streamline, and enhance Dyson's big data platform on DBS, specifically for projects on the Google Cloud Platform. This involves integrating new data sources, crafting data pipelines, and efficiently transforming, enriching, and disseminating data.
About the role
You'll be handling data from Dyson’s vast global data landscape, determining the most effective methods to present data to a worldwide analyst audience. Collaborating with data scientists and data product managers will be key to ensure the creation of a cohesive and high-performing solution.
A software engineering approach, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices, and critical thinking are essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement comprehensive data solutions on the Google Cloud Platform.
Uphold standardization, documentation, compliance, and efficiency.
Actively seek opportunities for optimization in all platform-related tasks.
Ensure alignment with core development standards and architectural principles.
About You
You're a seasoned Reporting Developer or Business Analyst with a zeal for transforming data into actionable and visually compelling insights. Your expertise lies in developing reports, dashboards, and presentations using tools like Looker, Tableau, and Power BI, backed by a solid foundation in SQL. You're adept at data visualization best practices and can craft innovative dashboards that offer stakeholders profound insights. Your skills extend to designing technical solutions, handling vast datasets, and managing data visualization, analytics, and reporting solutions. Your energy, assertiveness, and ability to collaborate with non-technical stakeholders set you apart. You're comfortable navigating ambiguity, possess an analytical mindset, and are proficient in various visualization and data extraction tools, including Excel, Looker, Tableau, Power BI, VBA, and source systems like SAP and Ariba.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
Ability to develop and refine data visualizations using Looker/LookML tailored to various stakeholders.
Proficient in SQL with experience in relational/columnar databases.
Familiarity with data modeling techniques and integration patterns.
Experience in crafting data analytic pipelines.
Resilience and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
Proven experience in secure data handling.
A proactive approach to problem-solving.
Desirable:
Proficiency in programming languages like Python/JavaScript, including real-world application.
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform.
Familiarity with Big Data stacks.
Experience in integrating new data sources into Google BigQuery using FiveTran.
Exposure to visualization tools like Looker and Tableau.
Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD processes.
