About Us

The Retail Design Manager (2D/3D) reports into the Senior Regional Retail Design Manager and is responsible for the delivery 2D & 3D Retail Design output and guidance for Indirect Retail across the region, with occasional responsibility in Direct Retail.

The role of Retail Design Manager (2D/3D) will sit within the APAC retail function, and will work closely with our APAC markets and UK-based Global Retail Experience function as well.

About the Role

Central to this role will be your partnership with APAC markets, delivering design output and guidance on the application of our global retail systems to our regional retail estate, and the creative 2D assets to support. You will be responsible for driving creative brand compliance across the region, making sure that Dyson retail spaces deliver a consistently elevated retail experience, in line with our global guidelines and identity, whilst also taking on board local market needs.

There will be a significant focus on 2D creative, where you will be tasked with overseeing the flow of 2D assets from our headquarters into markets, acting as the mechanism to ensure that they are relevant to market needs. In this capacity, the focus will be more predominantly on our wholesale channels but will speak to our direct and digital channels as we focus on more being channel agnostic. Key areas will include instore and on-fixture communications; global and local campaigns, demonstration mechanics, global product launches and customer journey messaging. On top of asset creation and adaptation, you will own and refine the ways of working process, driving efficiency at market level, sharing best practice cross-market and at a head office level.

Within the Regional Retail function, you will work closely with our Retail Marketing team and  Implementation, Production & Rollout team, reporting into the Senior Regional Retail Design Manager. You will work closely with the Global Retail Creative Director for Indirect Retail. Close collaboration with Teams such as Go-to-Market, Global Retail Experience and Concept Design is also part of the day-to-day.  

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Delivery of creative assets & guidance (3D & 2D) across the APAC Retail Indirect Estate including: new store openings, NPD updates, refurbishments / renovations, campaign activations.
  • Input on the creation, development and adaptation of Central Retail Function generated retail assets to ensure regional / market relevance. Provide conceptual thinking whilst delivering commercially viable solutions. Be a source of innovation and inspiration to shape future design thinking.
  • Implement clear processes for the delivery of creative assets, focussing on the flow and dependencies between Group & Market. Think briefs, efficient amends / streamlining, version control etc.
  • Be the design eyes and ears of the APAC region to brief market relevant requests into the Central Retail Function; where possible, conduct market visits to understand retailer and competitor landscapes. Impose yourself upstream to ensure that centrally generated assets deliver for the APAC region.
  • Maintain and update resource and status reports to ensure effective project management and upward reporting.
  • Manage tight deadlines and prioritise workload.

About You

Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

  • +5 years retail design experience
  • Experienced user of 2D visualisation software (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) & 3D CAD software; 3DS Max, Sketchup, AutoCAD or Vectorworks a plus.
  • A hands-on experience of print ready execution with an ability to communicate with printers and review print proofs
  • Retail experience and an appreciation of the needs behind an effective customer journey
  • Experience and knowledge on spatial design, retail environments and able to read general architectural and construction drawings
  • Demonstratable experience managing / refining a way of working process for movement of assets between key stakeholders
  • Experience with creating and enforcing guidelines 
  • Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects under pressure and to tight guidelines
  • Time and self-management
  • Experience in managing third party vendors, checking and approving print ready artworks
  • Experience with design mock-ups to communicate with a range of stakeholders
