Retail Development Manager

Description

As a key manager of Korea Retail team, he or she will lead and manage all retail roll-out and execution plans based on top-line trade marketing plans.


Accountabilities

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES AND SUPPORTING ACTIVITIES:

Retail Project Planning

·        Build strategic rollout and execution plans for all Retail Projects based on Trade Marketing plans, including new product launch

·        Work directly with APAC Retail CoE team on all strategic retail proposals to drive and develop in-store communications and marketing whilst continuously developing solutions to enrich the in-store experience

·        Be familiar with Dyson technology, reputations building, category plan, and retail environment to develop retail project plan. 

·        Supporting Senior Retail Development Manager to build prioritisation of projects and build yearly to quarterly calendar for Retail Development

·        Based on demand planning, manage fixture inventory and deployment for core in-store display system, plus all other projects as necessary

·        Actively working with Key Account Managers and Regional Development Managers to understand store by store demand and build yearly retail development demand plan

·        Build quarterly and yearly project delegation plan to each team members

Budget Planning and Control

·        Estimate construction cost based on latest store concept

·        Build and manage yearly budget for retail development and fixture inventory control

·        Manage and monitor all project budget and project cost sheet with Project Execution Managers

·        Build quarterly recap of all actual spending and next quarter budget accruals

·        Manage all Retail Development Budget and lead the team to update BBI (budget) file


Retail Project Management

·        Build and drive clear understanding of Project Mission for all Store Construction Projects

·        Drive approval and acceptance of the project through all relevant areas of the business in regard to design, costing, production quality/details, and timing

·        Provide guidance on standard in-store experience per tier, store design, suitability, practicality of the project to both internal and external key stakeholders

·        Work directly with Group and APAC Retail CoE team on all strategic and design proposals whilst negotiating the local’s needs to deliver best in-store experience for Dyson

·        Prioritisation of projects and build yearly to quarterly calendar

·        Own and lead entire project process for all Department Store and Electrical Multiples channel

·        Own and drive Dyson Demo – Directly Owned and Operated store – projects as project champion and manage stakeholders based on stakeholder map

·        Provide support from Retail Development point-of-view for every store opportunity review

·        Drive and negotiate store design with LLD and retailers

Process Management and Fixture Inventory Control

·        Continuously improve process of all retail activities with other stakeholders or teams

·        Manage and control fixture inventory based on demand planning and deployment

·        Manage Retail Project Process and continuously educate all the other internal teams

·        Develop efficient Quality Control process for consistent quality of all materials, fixtures and stores built

·        Manage raw material inventory control

Vendors Management

·        Maintain a core base of suppliers that offer key deliverables – quality, flexibility, reliability and cost

·        Run and manage vender performance, cost every 6months

·        Closely monitor and manage price list with global fixture vender

·        Collaborating with global fixture vender, manage all vender training for all new product launches

·        Source new suppliers globally as and when required, and manage this process with Group Retail, Asia Retail Design Manager, Supplier Management/Finance, assisting with auditing suppliers and KPIs when required

·        Work with the Legal and Procurement teams on costing, terms, supplier contracts and resolve any disputes that might arise

Skills

Experience and Education

  • Higher diploma or above in interior design or related field required
  • 7 years+ track record of delivering POP, merchandising and retail environments experience
  • Project management, time management and high people liaison skills
  • Deliver multinational brand store rollout projects
  • Working within a corporate structure involving both internal and supplier relationships
  • Dealing with sourcing and overseas manufacturing issues
  • Purchasing and negotiation skills
  • Dealing with international logistics requirements including tax, import and duty implications

Technical experience

  • Understanding of the use of materials and processes required for retail environment
  • Understanding of technical drawings and specifications
  • Understanding of print processes – litho, screen, digital
  • Knowledge in project budgets and control         
  • Knowledge in environmental and recycling regulations
  • Knowledge in key architectural and project management programs (eg. Auto CAD, Microsoft Projects)
