In an effort to help build the next generation of advanced domestic robots, we are looking for people to help us investigate robust solutions to diverse real-world problems in machine perception, action, and intelligence. Successful candidates will be working in a supportive environment within a team of experts, based in our state-of-the-art facility in Hullavington, that is constantly aiming to improve itself and the world of robotics. 

About the role.

Robot Learning Data Engineers at Dyson are engineers that have a passion for seeing state-of-the-art robot learning algorithms applied to product concepts.

This role will work closely with research scientists and engineers to collect large-scale robot data and apply it to existing algorithms for new product concepts. Data engineers spend ~70% of their time collecting data, ~10% of their time managing and curating data, and ~20% of their time training state-of-the-art algorithms with that data. 

  

The role is perfect for people who want to work on state-of-the-art algorithms with a keen interest in product development.  

  

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Collect large amounts of robot data via teleoperation. 
  • Analyse and report on data collected. 
  • Train machine learning models on the collected data 

About you.

This is the experience we'd love you to hold:

  • Must be able to be on feet for several hours a day for data collection.  
  • Knowledge and experience of applying imitation learning, and robot vision algorithms to real robot manipulation platforms. 
  • Knowledge and experience with modern machine learning frameworks (PyTorch, Tensorflow, etc). 

  

It would be desirable to have: 

  • Experience in applying deep learning to real world robot platforms. 
  • Experience in large-scale training. 
  • Experience with Ubuntu / Linux. 
  • Good Knowledge of Robotics. 
  • Fair Experience with ROS and Docker. 
  • A passion for advanced domestic robots.
