About the role


We have a great opportunity for a Scrum Master within the Intelligent Machines (IM) Team based in UK.

The Intelligent Machines (IM) Team is working on robotics and machine learning software development. You will work with a group of world-class software architects, robotics software specialists, and machine learning specialists on Dyson’s most complex products development.

The role will involve collaboration with:

  • Product category’s stakeholders

  • Program level members in release train (such as: Product Managers, Architect Leads, etc.)

  • Scrum team members (such as: robotics software engineers, research engineers)

  • External cross-function teams (such as: mechanical engineers, hardware/sensor engineers, other Release train members, etc.) to help to escalate and remove impediments, help to manage risk, support scrum team to drive for improvement.

You will be part of a Community of practice and help to drive for continual improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support RTEs to facilitate SAFe programme layer agile global ceremonies:- PI Planning day(s), retrospectives, scrum of scrums to ensure teams are aligned and delivery progress is made.

  • Serve as a scrum master two teams to deliver targeted software incrementally.

  • Facilitate the SAFe Agile ceremonies for scrum teams. Manage to bring team members focus on the meeting discussion and agenda.

  • In day-to-day work with your scrum teams(s) to help team to remove impediments, coach team members, and help facilitate team agile ceremonies.

  • Help you scrum teams in IM Release Train deliver works against objectives efficiently and effectively.

  • Work with the RTE’s from other ART’s and scrum masters to deliver to the Agile Release Train objectives.

  • Be part of the Scrum Master Community of Practice and contribute to the continual improvement of scrum- agile within the Intelligent Machines RT.

  • Proactively offers advice to PO and external team to ensure team is progressing well.

  • Responsible on monitoring the team’s health and work with team members closely to ensure team’s health moving to the right direction.

  • Responsible to reporting team status transparently and systematic by applying the tools permitted by DYSON.

  • Coach team on the Agile knowledge, practices either in groups or individually.

  • Share and deploy the good practices, way of working and processes from top to down to team members, to help increase the effectiveness and efficiency of SAFe within Dyson.

  • Challenge and develop best practice and process improvements within software team and across the wider RDD function.

  • You will not necessarily have an in-depth understanding of technical aspects, but you will be able to quickly pick-up new concepts and be comfortable with portraying technical information.

About you

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in (Electrical/Electronics/Telecommunication/Computer Engineering) or equivalent.

  • Software development experience in requirement analysis, architecture, design, coding and testing of software system.

  • Experienced Scrum Master, experience in Agile delivery, ideally for multiple teams.

  • Ability to coach, empower and lead teams to self-organisation.

  • Ability to work independently, and well sell-management on can make own decisions about scrum master priority in a day, a week and sprint time frame.

  • Able to make good judgement when to ask for consultation from others, when to push back and when to make decision appropriately

  • Able to change style depending on the communication required and needs from teams. Not afraid to challenge team members when necessary.

  • Able to empower and lead teams to self-organisation, self-management and encourage team continuous learning and improvement.

  • Self-confidence on the scrum knowledge and how to apply it.

  • Well familiar with Scrum team’s measurements and known well how to utilise those data to help team in delivery efficiency and effectively. Such as: Burn-up, Burn-down, estimation, velocity, bug measurement etc.

  • Comfortable engaging with multiple stakeholders.

  • Good understanding of software development life cycles (Agile) and basic electronics hardware (interface to software systems).

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal); fluent in spoken and written English Independent and reliable.

  • Able to work with others within and across scrum teams, to ensure that the whole project team succeeds in its goals.

Desirable:

  • Certified Scrum Master

  • Experience in usage of the Atlassian suite (JIRA, Confluence, bitbucket).

  • Experience with C / C++, UML, Python.
