About the role

The Senior Camera Systems Engineer will join the Robotics Hardware Integration team as a part of Dyson’s Hardware Electronics department. The candidate will be responsible for the system-level analysis, design, and development of advanced camera systems from concept to production for use across a wide range of exciting future products.

  • Design, build and test proof of concepts to evaluate camera systems hardware configuration.

  • Define the optical, electrical, and optoelectronic components’ specifications to meet camera systems requirements.  

  • Review design proposals from camera integrator partners and provide professional feedback to drive design maturity.

  • Design and perform laboratory experiments to verify and validate the hardware design of camera systems.

  • Provide in-depth analysis and solutions for identified design issues during camera systems development.

  • Devise test methods and evaluate emerging camera systems technologies from image sensor and camera module vendors.

About you

  • A degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics)

  • At least 2 years of experience working on the design, development, and verification of camera systems.

  • Expertise in digital camera and optics technology.

  • Good understanding of the interaction of key camera components.

  • Experience with designing/performing optical and electrical laboratory testing for camera systems.  

  • Proficiency in at least one of the major schematic capture and layout packages such as Altium Designer and Siemens Xpedition.

  • Proficiency in data analysis, image/signal processing and automation of tests using Python, Matlab, LabVIEW or other programming languages.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to work independently and effectively as a team.

  • A highly motivated person with good communication skills and the ability to work within a team.

  • Independent, integrity and self-driven with a strong focus on results.

  • Possess a strong command of written and spoken English.
