About the role

  • Our floorcare range at Dyson is not only unique, the products like the V11 just did win the Stiftung Warentest comparison test for cordless vacuum cleaners the fourth time in a row. Now we're looking for someone to take this success story and the storytelling to the next level.

  • Having an outstanding understanding of the media in the DACH region and an innate ability to tell inspiring stories is taken as a given. The candidate will work in a way that inspires and motivates colleagues to also achieve unrivalled coverage. They will be results focused and have an eye for the technical details as well as having exceptional writing skills.

  • Creative imagery, digital storytelling and precise briefing are part of your daily business.

  • Communication is multidimensional. Just like the media behavior of our customers. News come in every time, mobile, at home, during working hours - and social media channels play the biggest roles these days. Education on our products and the transportation of our engineers’ spirit are key of Dyson communication.

  • The person who will fill this role is responsible for the floorcare communication for products and seasonal campaigns. 

  • Developing creative and tailormade PR campaigns for Dyson products. Detecting trends, developing them further and implementing them with pinpoint accuracy. 

  • The future Associate Manager Floorcare Communication will report into the Head of Communications for DACH. 

About you

  • Work with the DACH Communications team to set media launch strategies for products of our Floorcare range campaigns.

  • Create and manage partnerships and campaigns that propel Dyson reputation forward outside of product launches.

  • Pitch to media daily and secure regular positive coverage; about Dyson technology and the Dyson philosophy.

  • Work with social media, content, and marketing teams to maximize communications initiatives on channels outside of traditional media.

  • Write thorough creative briefs to request support and materials for projects and launches

Communicate

  • Work in tandem with the DACH marketing teams and other departments within the DACH business to support business goals

  • Work with the Group Communications team to inform Dyson’s global PR strategy

  • Be the local expert, spotting trends and sharing opportunities with the global PR team

  • Be an active part of a global network of PR people – share best practices, ideas, etc.

  • Lead the Floorcare category, setting strategy around major initiatives, including product launches, events, etc.

  • Identify problems and find solutions

Skills and competencies

  • 3+ years of experience in PR, Communications or comparable profession

  • Strategic thinking: demonstrates ability to take a broad overview of issues and to identify most salient points. Take an inventive approach.

  • Analytical skills: Identifies and analyzes key trends, issues, problems and solutions. Reasons logically and accurately with financial and numerical information.  Ensures details are not overlooked.

  • Collaborative: Able to build and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of people both within the Communications team and other teams across the DACH and Global business. Works co-operatively with others as part of a team, as opposed to working separately or competitively.

  • Written and oral communication: Is able to present complex information and arguments in a coherent and accessible format to senior management. Is able to use a variety of oral and written communication presentation techniques to ensure recommendations are considered.

  • Creativity: Demonstrates imagination, creativity and divergent thinking and encourages it in others.  Shows openness to alternative approaches and promotes considered risk taking. Balanced by good judgment in solving problems.

  • Resilience: Manages personal effectiveness by controlling emotions in the face of pressure, setbacks or when dealing with provocative situations. Demonstrates an approach to work that is characterized by commitment, motivation, and energy.

  • Project management skills: At times this role will involve direct project management, at other times, managing the project manager. This person must be able to manage budgets and deadlines – and plan, achieve and evaluate results.

  • Successful media relations experience: An up-to-date understanding of DACH media (print, broadcast and online) is essential, as is a proven ability to develop and directly pitch stories to journalists.

  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors: Communicate, inspire & challenge, let people do it for themselves, get people to see beyond their teams, think long-term, invent and improve, be passionate.

  • Fluent in English and German
