GEHW (Global Electronics Hardware) in RDD are at the core of electronics development & product delivery, and as the company has grown and diversified an opportunity has opened for a motivated and experienced engineer to join the Component Librarian team as they deliver the library structure, govern all electronics components elements from the creation until EOL; enabling consistent GEHW delivery, and future proofed for Dyson’s growth.
About the Role:
The Component Library team is part of the PCB Engineering Group, a busy global team within GEHW, and we’re responsible for part creation and all it entails. However, we’re also undertaking a major overhaul of our libraries and processes as we play our part meeting the huge challenges driven by Dyson growth and vision.
This is an exciting opportunity, and the successful candidate will quickly become an invaluable part of the team encompassing a broad spectrum of activity. It’s a demanding role that directly impacts new project delivery and current project production continuity; you must be well organised and motivated, having a proven track record dealing with engineering program pressures, and meeting delivery targets & goals. You will regularly deal with various departments, managers, engineers, and suppliers, and must therefore have excellent communication skills.

Assist and work closely with Hardware Engineer and Procurement Team in part selection for new design.
Part searching based on requirements indicated by Hardware Engineer; for multi-sourcing, replacement, cost down and various of reason.
Issue component specification comparison report
Part creation in PLM (Product Life Management system) and update in Mentor database.
Confirm the part is life-cycle active and validity of the part (specification and details).
Own, manage and maintain component database (Mentor).
BOM Health Assessment:
BOM scrubbing to identify components at risk and work with Hardware Engineer to take appropriate decision and action, in order to improve the BOM health level and mitigate risk of redesigns.
Main channel of electronics component PCN (product change notification) activity and responsible to review the PCN document from part manufacturer as well as trigger Programme Team and Hardware Team for necessary action.
Operating as a subject matter expert for Component Librarian activity:
Work with IT to support EDM implementation and subsequent ongoing maintenance
Help manage Dyson Component Librarian procedures by applying continuous improvement principles to library management process & standards.
Familiar with electronics component industry and have good relationship with part manufacturer representative
About You :
Bachelor’s degree in (Electrical/Electronics/Communication) or other relevant discipline.
Knowledge of Electronics component function, specification and industry.
Working Knowledge of electronics solution design and development process.
Capable to deliver high quality results within tight time deadlines.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to work independently and effectively as a team.
Highly motivated person with good communication skills and able to work within a team
Independence, Integrity and self-driven with a strong focus on results.
Process improvement & documentation desirable
Preferably personnel specializing in Engineering, particularly in “Electronics” environment
Fluent in spoken and written English
Ideally (but not essential) experience or knowledge in any of the following is advantageous: Siemens EDM & PLM and SiliconExpert.
Methodical, organised approach with attention to detail & accuracy
Self-motivated, with a strong focus on results
Ability to work independently or as an effective team member.
