About the role

We are currently seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join the Data & Analytics Team in our world-class Research Design and Development department. We are responsible for global reporting and analysis of projects during product development. The team play a vital role in supporting the engineering function of over 4000 technicians, scientists and engineers worldwide.

The Senior Data Engineer would be responsible for developing and maintaining a brand-new data orchestration system which will eventually be used to drive the entire portfolio of Research Design and Development dashboards at Dyson.

The day-to-day would primarily involve replicating data models from an existing depreciated database, while being alert to opportunities to enhance and expand our data reporting capabilities. To succeed here not only would you need excellent familiarity with SQL, but also a deep understanding of our engineers’ needs, requiring strong interpersonal skills. Getting familiar with our data visualisation software will also be necessary to understand how best to support our dashboard developers. The role has a great mix of senior stakeholder interaction and technical code development. 
 

About you

  • Excellent applied knowledge of SQL (Standard SQL and T-SQL preferred).

  • Experience using data orchestration tools (DBT preferred) and working with ETL processes.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and stakeholder management ability.

  • A desire to become a responsible, dependable data subject matter expert and a strong advocate for coding best practices.

  • A keen attention to detail.

  • Experience working with data visualisation software (Tableau preferred).

  • Experience using Python, and in particular the Pandas library.

  • Experience using GIT (Bitbucket preferred).

  • Experience using Google Cloud Platform Big Query.
