About the role
We are looking for an engineer with a strong skillset in mechanical design and structural analysis. The engineer will work within the floorcare research team to apply their skills and experience to invent and develop technologies that enhance the company’s technical advantage in future products. He/she will drive research projects from initial conception, through the various technology readiness levels, and finally into NPD projects. As a senior member of the team, the successful candidate will also be expected to use their experience to mentor and technically advise the junior team members, and to implement new ideas to help in the continuous improvement of the team’s research capability.
Lead the team in advanced application and functionalities of CAD and structural analysis.
Assist other team members and mentor engineers of all levels in your area of expertise.
Generate innovative concepts for new technologies.
Design, build and test prototypes as part of a technology development project.
Identify potential research areas which would benefit from new technology development.
Present concepts to team and company leaders.
Degree qualified (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.
An advanced knowledge and proven track record of CAD and strong grasp of mechanical design principles (Siemens NX preferable).
Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical analysis, including FEA and modal calculation and simulation.
Proven ability to work autonomously with the responsibility to deliver to tight project deadlines.
Good analytical and problem-solving ability.
Persistent nature and an inquisitive attitude.
Good organisational skills - able to plan ahead and to prioritise tasks and co-ordinate with the work of others.
Experience of communicating and presenting complex technical content.
