About the role
As a Senior Design Engineer within the Environmental Care, Professional and Lighting category, you will be joining an innovative & dynamic team, developing the next generation of products, as well as supporting the realisation and growth of a new product category for Dyson.
You will work autonomously as part of a multi-disciplined team, striving to solve problems for people globally, designing for a diverse range of user needs and environments. Using an iterative design-build-test approach to demonstrate new technology, intuitive features and performance gains.

By joining our world class Research, Design and Development department, you will work collaboratively as part of a global team with other leading technical specialists and highly motivated creative people to deliver different, authentic and pioneering products. Working across all phases of the project development from defining requirements & generating concepts, to realising manufacturable solutions. All whilst engaging with our Engineering teams in South East Asia.
The role is multi-disciplined, with the opportunity to focus on developing different aspects of our products; integrating new technologies into manufacturable solutions to meet the product vision.
Ownership of design, build and testing of prototypes to demonstrate technologies, features and performance
Working alongside RDD teams to produce exciting and disruptive products on specification, cost and time.
Collaborate with multiple support teams to integrate electro/mechanical systems into our cutting-edge technologies.
Take an active, hands-on role to ensure that all engineering problems are resolved thoroughly.
Assessing technical risk, defining development plans and reporting against project delivery.
Create and perform investigative verification and validation tests throughout all development phases.
Communicate and influence across all disciplines and levels.
Challenge and develop Dyson engineering practices to continuously improve design quality.
Qualifications & Experience
A degree in Design Engineering, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Practical knowledge of 3D CAD, PLM systems and simulation packages.
Experience of designing parts and assemblies for mass manufacture.
Sound understanding of fundamental engineering and scientific principles.
Creative problem solver with the ability to multitask in a rapidly changing environment.
A good understanding of mechanisms and awareness of the application of electrical & electronic principles.
Ability to generate and communicate ideas through a variety of means including concept sketches and prototypes.
Analytical and logical mindset with a high attention to detail.
Champion great design to produce products that meet all performance and functional requirements.
Managing, tracking and mitigating technical risk.
Ability to plan effectively in an organised manner when working with a variety of project teams, in an often high-pressure environment.
Use of advanced statistical tools & analysis software, devise lab-based measurement techniques and test methods to influence design direction.
